arthropod - an animal that has a jointed exoskeleton.
Crustaceans - lobsters and crabs
arachnids - spiders, ticks, and mites.
Insects - animals with six jointed legs.
Characteristics: the jointed part lets it move it's legs, the exoskeleton doesn't grow with the animal, every arthropod has legs, a digestive system, a circulatory system, and a brain, arthropods reproduce sexually.
Adaptations: have a hard shell

Mollusk - animal with a shell.
Example: snail.
Characteristics: soft body and no bones, mollusk means soft in Latin, most have hard shells to protect their body, the mollusk has a muscular foot.
