KEEPING YOU CONNECTED...
We are deeply committed to offering excellent educational experiences for our students and we want to keep you informed of upcoming events, successes and happenings in GPISD.
April is STAAR and EOC testing month, we want to wish all of our students good luck on their test.
Here are a few tips for a successful STAAR/EOC Testing Week:
1. Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep!
2. Make sure your child has a healthy breakfast!
3. Build up your child's confidence!
4. Support and praise your child for their hard work!
5. Leave a special note in their lunch box!
6. Celebrate when testing is complete!
In Galena Park ISD, our students are extremely important to us and so are you. Please enjoy this edition of a newsletter especially designed for you.
Thank you for staying connected!
2019-2020 Registration Information
Save the Date!
All currently enrolled students who will be attending a GPISD school for the 2019-2020 school year are required to complete Returning Student Verification (RSV). Once again, this will be a two-part process.
1) Proof of Residence (delivered to your child's campus)- April 8-May 3
2) Online Skyward Registration- July 2019
Any returning parent who does not provide the Proof of Residence to the campus by May 3rd will need to appear in person during New Student Enrollment.
Additional RSV information will be made available on the GPISD website by April 5.
April's Attendance Letter
In order to prevent such legal actions, be sure to monitor your child’s attendance and require them to attend school every day! Send children to school unless they are truly sick and seek help if chronic illness is a challenge. If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, counselors, or school administrators for advice on how to make him or her feel comfortable and excited about learning. In the event that your child does miss school, be sure to submit a note within 3 school days in order for unavoidable absences to be excused (See Education Code 25.087 for guidelines on excused absences).
Remember, students who Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow. Don’t let absences add up.
**note: this registration is for Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten ONLY

Coach Benitez Named Coach of the Year
Galena Park ISD would like to congratulate Coach Sam Benitez, North Shore Senior High basketball coach, for being named Coach of the Year for the Greater Houston Area.
In his first year as head coach, the North Shore Mustangs went 33-4 overall, 12-2 in district and won first place at the Goose Creek ISD and Pasadena ISD Tournaments. The Mustangs went 56 days without a single loss and even earned the title of state’s top-ranked team at one point during the season.
