What in the world did he explore? Well your about to find out!
When did he explore?
Why did he explore? What did he want?
Robert wanted to be the first man to visit the North Pole.
Robert also was obsessed with the Idea of reaching the North.
He wanted to win the Polar race to the North Pole.
How did he explore? (transportation, clothes, equiptment, etc.
What dangers did he face, and how did he survive? If so how?
In March 1909, he and his crew left by sledge for the Pole. For nearly a month they battled freezing cold, violent winds, and sudden openings in the ice. Many of his colleagues were sent back to the base camp, now 300 miles (480 kilometers) away.
By early April, only Peary, his aide and companion, Matthew Henson (1866–1955), and four Inuit guides remained. The small band pushed forward another 133 miles (214 kilometers). On April 6, 1909, they made their final march and reached the Pole.
He also died in February 20th, 1920, in Washington DC. He was buried with military honors.
