Knights Watch

May 30 - June 4

All In, Mt. Gallant!

How We Win:

  • Building and sustaining relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Improving our core instruction in the areas of Guided Reading, Lucy Calkins' writing, and Number Talks.
  • Personalizing the MGES experience and learning for each child

Field Day - Supervision

Good supervision is the name of the game everyday but even more so on Field Day. Please ensure that you are supervising your students even though there will be parents and other school staff overseeing the logistical parts of the day. For safety reasons, do not allow your students to be alone with non-custodial parents.

This will be a fun time for you and your students! Enjoy it!

May 31 Morning Duty for Grades 3 - 5

The gym will be used for field day volunteer setup. For morning duty, grades 3-5 students will line the third grade hall and into the breezeway instead of sitting in the gym.

Reading Coach's Corner

Great job with end of year ELA assessments! I am so pleased with what I have viewed so far. I am finished with most of the folders, and the remaining ones will be returned by Tues. afternoon.

Summer Reading Plans - Melisa Smith

Our Go for the Gold: READ challenge went home this week with students. Please encourage your child to read each day to continue the progress he/she has made throughout the school year. Students who participate will be invited to a picnic lunch and Wacky Olympics when they return in August.

MGES faculty and staff will also sponsor Read and Play this summer on June 7, July 7, and August 4th. On these dates, we will be visiting the playgrounds at Whitgreen Street (10-11 a.m) and MGES (12-1pm) to enjoy ice pops and books. Stop by and visit.

Building Open this Summer

There will be quite a few projects taking place this summer - in addition to cleaning. The building will be tentatively be closed June 8 - July 22. I'll keep you updated on the status as the summer progresses. The largest project will be the library remodel. We also have some asbestos tile and grease trap replacement in other areas of the building.
