What is Fuel Play up to 60?

"Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP 60) is a leading national in-school health and wellness program launched by the National Football League (NFL) and National Dairy Council (NDC), which was founded by America's dairy farmers, in collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Fuel Up to Play 60's primary focus is to help schools meet their wellness goals and encourage youth to consume nutrient-rich foods (low-fat and fat-free dairy, fruits, vegetables and whole grains and lean protein foods and achieve at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day."

A message from the coaches

In order for all students to safely participate in P.E. activities, shoes for P.E. should be rubber soled, and MUST have a closed toe and heel. It is important for students to wear tennis shoes for class, not only for safety, but in order to actively participate in class activities.

The 12 Foundations of ABL

Students struggle to learn for many reasons. Some students struggle because they experienced early childhood developmental gaps that affects learning later. Because of neuroplasticity, the brain can change for optimal learning by re-teaching basic motor movements and activities that fill in developmental gaps. Action Based Learning Labs focus on filling the developmental gaps that affect a child’s learning. As a child’s basic motor movements improve, the academics will follow. Each month we will spotlight one of the 12 Foundations that we focus on in the ABL Learning Labs. Check out this month’s Foundation and how you can utilize activities within your classroom to help your students move and learn.

Learning Objectives

P.E.- I will learn how to recognize physical activities that are good for our health, physical activities that we can enjoy as a part of a physically active lifestyle, how to move safely with balance and control. Build relationships. I will learn how to incorporate PE at home with my family.

Art- Classroom Expectations and Safety

Music- Kinder: Explore Fall rhythms using long and short sounds.

1st : Review basic rhythms (Ta, TiTi, and Shh) and explore Fall songs.

2nd: Review basic rhythms( Ta, TiTi, and Shh) and introduce Ta-ah.

3rd-4th: Review all previous learned rhythms (Ta, TiTi, Ta-ah, Ta-ah-ah-ah)

Health/Tech- Circulatory System
