Blue Team Weekly Update
Week of 4/6-4/10
Classroom Happenings
ELA- Mrs. Camden
The second week of distance learning is in the books.
Assignments are posted to Google Classroom each day by 8:30am. Please check there for instructions and work to complete.
We focused our lessons this week around author’s purpose. Students should be able to recognize why an author has created a piece of writing or media, and should be able to articulate with text evidence how they know.
Everyone should be reading. I posted a Google form to fill out when you complete books. If you are having trouble finding access to books, check out the library Google Classroom or send Mrs. Tumminello a message. She has compiled a list of free resources. Mrs. Tumminello’s library Zoom meetings for Blue Team are on Thursdays at 11:00am.
Scholastic has set up their system so books can ship directly to your house. If you use our class code M9G7W you will get books delivered, and I will still get the scholastic points to add books to my classroom library for next year when the library is closed.
The best way to contact me is by email. I prefer that parents use camden.stacy@wgmail.org and that students use camden.stacy@wgcloud.org
You can email anytime. My office hours are M-F 1-2pm. If you need to set up a Zoom conference, please email me and we can set a time and date together.
Science- Mr. Vorel
Hello! First, thank you for your patience and grace as we continue to figure out distance learning. I will continue to post each day's assignment(s) on Google Classroom at 8:30 am.
We will continue to Zoom on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students are encouraged to “come to Zoom class” as it is a chance to check in with each other and if we are lucky, play relevant games over Zoom.
Please make sure students are checking their own Gmail daily as well as reading announcements on Google Classroom.
The best way to contact me is through email. Parents - please email me at vorel.adam@wgmail.org. Students - please email me at vorel.adam@wgcloud.org. I will hold “office hours” from 2-3 pm everyday. Although it is my goal to be directly accessible at any time during regular school day hours, this time has been purposefully set aside allowing me to quickly answer questions/offer support (in other words, I will not be in meetings at this time).
We have begun our new unit on waves. Students are familiarizing themselves with new vocabulary and learning about different types of waves and wave anatomy.
Please reach out with any questions/comments/concerns!
Social Studies- Mr. McGinnis
Greetings
Hope all is well for you and your family.
1. If you can make the Zoom meetings, please do. It is nice to see your faces, or your bed head. You can ask questions if you have them and we can help in real-time instead of emails.
2. NEWZBRAIN - an 8-minute current event and civics quiz for each student and 2 parents/siblings to play. Play together or compete.

Each class will choose how to allocate their $100,000. Students will read their classmate’s stock recommendations and complete a Google form on how much to allocate for each stock. On Wednesday our Zoom meeting will use that information to decide how much to invest in each stock.
After Wednesday classes will compete against each other.
