January 8th PD
Similar to a state of the union or a state of the adderess the beginning of the calendar is is an ideal time to reconnect or revisit the district goals outlined by our superintendent Dr. Melton.
As we prepare for this time with all certified staff it is my expectation that all will be fully engaged and present. Our time will be successful if all in attendance envision and see their role in living into our district and school goals for the remainder of this year.
Jeff Anderson Site Visit and Demonstration Lesson
In collaboration with Stenhouse Publishing our district will host Jeff Anderson for 8 elementary site visits this coming week and a day of professional development on January 12. Jeff is a well known practitioner and thought leader know for his work with grammar and writing.
Each elementary school was invited to take part in this opportunity but participation wasn't a requirement. Power of Patterns (Anderson book) is a professional text that a few of your colleagues in 3rd and 5th grade have accessed and used as a mentor text during the first and second nine weeks of this school year.
Mr. Anderson will meet with our observation team first which will then be followed by a demonstration lesson in J. Goforth's room and will conclude with a debrief. We look forward to noticing and naming the teaching moves/actions by J. Anderson to support the growth of our writers. Reflections will be shared at a later date.
