Picture Day - Thursday February 16th
Class group picture and individual photo day will be on Thursday, February 16th. A group picture order form will be sent home Thursday, February 9th. If you wish to purchase a class group photo, you will pay for it on February 16th.
On the opposite side of the group order form, you have the opportunity to select the background for your child's individual photo. The purchase of individual pictures will be done a little different this year. Everyone will receive a complete packet of your child's photo a few weeks after picture day. Instructions and cost will be attached. You will have the opportunity to purchase individual sheets or the entire package, paying for only what you chose to keep and returning the rest.
Take a Taste Tuesday
We are up to the letter “P” so this week for Take a Taste Tuesday Mrs. Strong’s class got to taste Persimmons. Many thanks to Mrs. Lin who loves to shop in specialty markets and found the persimmons for us to taste. Persimmons are a yellow orange fruit that are native to China and Southeast Asia. They are also grown in California and Mrs. Jones says that she had a persimmon tree in her yard when she was growing up in Texas. Persimmons are high in Vitamin A, potassium and fiber. They are very sweet and high in natural sugar. We enjoyed them sliced and raw but they can be dried and used in baking too. Only three people in Mrs. Strong’s class had ever eaten persimmon before. Almost everyone said they would try them again if they had a chance. Keep an eye out for persimmons and try a new fruit in your family soon.
Friendly Reminders -
Food Allergy Alert – Friendship Parties
We make every effort to provide an allergy safe environment for all of our students. However, in the case of holiday parties we sometimes have foods available that might not be right for your child. Our teachers are aware of your child’s food allergies if you have shared that information with us. You can check that information through the Parent Portal system on your child’s emergency card. You can also call or e-mail Nurse Grace at 469-752-0609 or Judith.grace@pisd.edu. If your child has serious food allergies we recommend that you provide individual snacks for your child that can act as a replacement for items offered at the parties. You can send nonperishable items for your child’s teacher to have on hand in the classroom..
