Author Kentrell Martin Visits Holy Cross on Monday!

Author KENTRELL MARTIN of the Shelley's Adventure series and picture books, will be visiting Holy Cross on Monday and will be presenting to the students in PK through 5th grade. Mr. Martin grew up with a deaf brother and his books are fun and at the same time educational as he is also teaching the students about American Sign Language.

This is very exciting! He was here several years ago and the children really loved meeting him and asking him questions about becoming an author. Who know if we have a future author in our midst?

An order form was sent home today with all children in PK through 5th grade if you wish to order an autographed book or other goodies to commemorate the event.

Here is a link to information on Mr. Martin. I hope that you will support this African-American Author by ordering an autographed book for your child. The Chapter books are appropriate for 3rd grade and up and 2nd graders that are very good readers. The other books are appropriate for PK through 2nd grade.

Congratulations to our Confirmation Class of 2018

Shannon Searcy, Alexander Cassagnol, Tatiana Johnson and Skii Hilaire were confirmed into our church body last Sunday. These students prepared for this and took part in confirmation classes for many months. This is a big step of faith for them and we are very proud of them. Congratulations to Shannon, Alexander, Tatiana, Skii and their families!

Thanks for your support of our special SHED YOUR THREADS fundraiser

On Tuesday, we raised $500 to help one of our school families that has special needs due to the serious medical condition of a parent. We thank you for your support. In addition to many of the children donating $1 in exchange for wearing their own clothes to school, Mrs. Moore's class by itself raised over $100 and many children and parents made special donations.

EARLY REGISTRATION IS ALMOST OVER!

This is a reminder that discounted early registration will end on May 1st. After May 1st, registration fees increase by $100. Several grades are already full or near full. This will just a little over one week away. If you plan to take advantage of this opportunity to save $100, please do not wait until the last day and overwhelm the business office. Mrs. Rogers will be staying until 5:45 on Tuesday, May 1st as a convenience to parents.

Here are the steps:

1. Complete the registration on Renweb

2. Pay the registration fee

3. Sign the tuition plan

Holy Cross is selected as "Program of the Year" by the Children's Trust

The early childhood department of Holy Cross Lutheran School was recently selected as "Program of the Year" by the Children's Trust as a result of our involvement with the Quality Counts Early Childhood Rating program. Our program has a five star rating. This is a tremendous honor and we are so proud of our teachers and other early childhood department staff. We will be honored at a banquet at Jungle Island in June. Congratulations to our staff for this tremendous accomplishment.

The video shoot has been reschedule to Thursday, May 10th due to illness.
