UTC Oxfordshire
Newsletter - 7th September 2022
Welcome to a new term and a new academic year, we hope you’ve had an enjoyable break.
We’ve had a great start to the year, with our new year 10s and 12s joining us on Friday last week and then welcoming the whole school in on Monday. There is a real buzz around the corridors and its lovely to see the professional dress and both students and staff excited for the year ahead.
Along with our new students, we also welcome some new staff. It’s great to have them on board and we look forward to benefiting from the enthusiasm, knowledge and experience that they bring with them. You can see a full staff list on our website: UTC Oxfordshire - Staff List.
This year also brings some changes to our Senior Leadership Team, Left to Right: Emma Reynolds, Head of School, Zoe Barnes, Assistant Principal, Sam Knowlton, Executive Principal and Kieran Hughes, Assistant Principal and Head of 6th Form.

Ferrari Track Day
Engineering excellence is part of our USP and we have some great employer relationships with some racing teams, including Ferrari. The Ferrari Challenge occurs at Silverstone race circuit each year and they have invited us, UTC Oxfordshire staff, students and parents, to join them for the weekend to see some exciting racing and get close to many different Ferrari models.
The event takes place between 16-18 September this year, and it will feature rounds of the Ferrari Challenge Europe, as well as the final round of the Ferrari Challenge UK 2022 – meaning there will be plenty of racing action to enjoy throughout the weekend. Further event details can be found here: Ferrari Challenge - Silverstone
For this year’s event, we have been provided with a promotional code from Silverstone which can be used for up to 400 complimentary tickets to the event.
Book your tickets: https://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/ferrari-challenge
Discount code: FC22UTC
This discount code will work for either single day tickets, or weekend tickets. You should enter this promotional code on the basket page first, then press the red arrow. The website will refresh and then you can select how many tickets you want – both Adults and Children must each have a ticket – and the cost should show at £0.00. This promotional code will work for up to 2000 tickets – but each family should request their own tickets individually. They will then receive an email confirmation and will be able to download the tickets from their account the week before the event.
Please can you make sure you sign up by Monday 12th September so that unused tickets can be allocated elsewhere .

The School Day
A reminder that our working week has changed and now includes a 2pm finish on a Friday. We would like to reassure you that no curriculum time has been lost to accommodate this. We will still be engaging with employers and are still well above the new government guidelines for the school working day, being a minimum of 32.5hrs.
From September 2022 the working week will look like this:
Open Events
We will be hosting two open events this term, a Key Stage 4 event on Wednesday 28th September for students looking to join us for Year 10 next September. You can register your place on our website: https://www.utcoxfordshire.org.uk/events/
The second event will be a Key Stage 5 event and careers fair on Wednesday 9th November for students looking to join us for 6th Form or consider their post 16 options. Details for this event will be on our website nearer the time.
Please do pass these details on to anyone who you think might be interested in joining UTC Oxfordshire.
Many other schools and organisations will be hosting open events this term, we will pass details on to students of any that we are aware of but you may also want to check the websites for places that are of particular interest.
