Announcements
Our class will visit Fort Greene Park once a week on Fridays. Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate shoes (close toed and rubber soled). Also, we will be eating lunch at the park on those days. If your child is not eating school lunch, please make sure to pack a brown bag lunch to ensure that no lunch bags are misplaced.
- Please note that 2A is scheduled in specials until 3:45 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Students will be brought downstairs immediately after they finish. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to have a safe dismissal.
- Birthday celebrations will occur on the final Friday of each month for all students with birthdays in that month.
Water bottles will be sent home on Fridays to be cleaned and washed over the weekend.
In 2A, we do have some food allergies but no airborne nut allergies. Therefore, students can bring nut products but we do not allow food sharing.

A Science Update From Ms. Rosabal
The Second Grade Geologists are learning all about Earth Materials--soil, rock, layers of the Earth, and soon... plate tectonics! To coincide with the Second Grade Inquiry study of rules, rights, and responsibilities, our Geologists are being challenged with "labs" and tasked with different "lab roles." Roles will change each and every session, so during this term everyone will have a chance to do every job. The Golden Lions have really risen to the occasion. From mixing sand, rock, and water to simulate sedimentary rock formation, to examining soil samples with hand lenses, they've already shown they can roll up their sleeves and get down to business! Ask your Geologist what the Materials Manager does, or what sediment means--they'll be glad to tell you!
Tech Note: Follow Ms. Rosabal on Instagram @rosabal_the_science_pal! This is a private, invite-only Instagram feed to document the happenings of the Science / Art Studio Lab for BPCS family members. Check it out for more Studio Lab updates in pictures!
Dance With Ms. Siby
It’s Flashback Friday with Ms. Siby and our Second Grade Dancers! After a one year hiatus, I am so excited to return to Brooklyn Prospect to teach our wonderful Second graders. I cannot believe how much they have grown, since our Kindergarten dancing days. It has been such a delight to reunite with former students and meet new students. In honor of our humble beginnings and in expectation of the great year ahead, here are some "flashback" pictures to brighten your day!
