Signs of Readiness
Physical.
coordinated enough to run or walk!urinates a fair amount at one time.
has 'dry' periods between 2 to 3 hours, maybe during a nap.
Behavioral.
can sit quietly and still for 2 to 5 minutes.
can pull his pants up and down.
doesn't like feeling a wet or dirty diaper.
takes pride in his accomplishments.
Cognitive.
can follow simple instructions like 'go get that book'
understands value of put things where they belong.
has words for urine and stool.
Reasons to begin potty Training
but you wanna start potty training because you dont want to send your kid to school still wearing pull ups and because it gets gross sitting in pee and poop.
Muscle Control, Self dressing, Encouragement, Training.
Self-Dressing: it shows them some independence, and shows them that they can do it.
Encouragement: Because it shows them that they did good, because they went potty.
Training: starts with bowel because they try to text their limits by holing in the bowel movements to see how long they can last.
