ALL GRHS STAFF AND STUDENTS MUST BE PROPERLY WEARING A MASK AT ALL TIMES IN THE BUILDING (EVEN IN THE CAFE - UNLESS EATING DURING LUNCH - AND STILL MUST BE SOCIALLY DISTANCED by sitting 4 per table). Students refusing to wear their mask will be sent home.
A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday Longhorns,
It is hard to believe, but THIS week it is time to choose your instructional model for the 5th Six Weeks! Please login to Skyward's Family Access starting Monday, January 25 through Friday, February 5th. Do not delay, because there are NO CHANGES being made past the deadline. Each six weeks is like reworking the entire master schedule, which takes tons of extra time and man power as we continue working hard to keep class sizes as small as possible to maintain as much social distancing as we can. This, of course, will get harder as more and more longhorns return, but I assure you we will continue to try our best!
Course Selection window for the 2021-2022 School Year is OPEN!
Thanks to all the parents/students that jumped on this last week. If you have not taken care of it, now is the time to act, so that you can have the opportunity to take the classes that you most want! Please read the information below on steps you need to take to ensure your are enrolled in the courses that you want before they fill up! Thanks for you attention to this matter.
Let's keep being smart and stay safe by adhering to the face to face expectations by properly wearing those masks, sanitizing regularly, and following social distancing protocols to the best of our ability. We can't completely control COVID, but we can definitely slow the spread down, and that is A LOT! Any student refusing to follow the rules will be given disciplinary consequences, which will in turn affect their semester exam exemptions. Let's all do our part to keep GR the PLACE to be... especially for those of us CHOOSING to be face to face.
Thank you so much to all our parents and students reaching out to your Assistant Principal for questions and assistance. Please CONTINUE to email your (or your student's) Assistant Principal , as they can assist you the quickest.

DRESS CODE, STUDENT/STAFF ID's and MASKS ARE NOT OPTIONAL! Please read UPDATED EXPECTATIONS and CONSEQUENCES starting this week!
Dress Code
If the student must change 3 times (in one school year ), on the 3rd violation, the student will receive an office referral. If the student refuses to change = automatic referral. (loses exemptions)
ID's -Visibly worn on TOP half of body every day!
GRHS 20-21 ISSUED ID's must be visibly worn on a lanyard or visibly clipped on the TOP half of your body at all time from the time you walk into the building until your leave the campus each day. This is in place for both students and staff, and has been in place since day one, so it is NOT going away.
*If you need an additional ID, (since we provided you with the first one) you can purchase one before school from 8:00-8:15 or during all lunches for $5 in the library with admin approval. Refusing to wear it will result in an office referral and consequences just like dress code.
Masks
Refusing to wear mask = send home, go virtual for the remainder of the Six Weeks, and lose exemption.
*Not wearing mask properly: (over nose and mouth)
- 1st offense- lunch detention
- 2nd offense- In School Suspension (ISS)
- 3rd offense - Out of School Suspension (OSS)
- 4th - parent conference / student moves to virtual
REPEAT - Dress Code and Lanyard/ID 's STILL mandatory-PLEASE TIGHTEN UP!
So here is some real talk in an area that needs your immediate attention. As we came back from the holidays, I can definitely see there are some new "cute" clothes...but unfortunately many of them do NOT meet the dress code that is/has been in place. (I also remind you every day on announcements.) I see ENTIRELY too much skin showing. (For example, crop tops too short , shorts to too short, shirts too low in the front, big jackets (worn unzipped with mid-drift showing), etc) We have two choices here, adhere to my expectations starting this week (as I feel what we have in place is an EASY COMPROMISE for a school dress code) or I can can revamp my dress code expectations and remove some things off the "acceptable list".
Dress code violations will be written up, which will affect your final exemptions. Please remember that you are at school, and rules are in place and expected to be followed. (whether you agree with them or not). Just a sidebar reminder that technology and social media can be a blessing or a curse....it's all about choices. Displaying being "out of dress code" by making TIKTOK's (at school) that have been sent to me by upset families to address, is probably not the best choice or a great reflection on you. Please do better this week, because YOU ARE better than that, I know it! (I have added the dress code visual for you again...in case you need a reminder).
CAMPUS DAILY REMINDERS!
ONLY 3 PEOPLE allowed in the front office at one time due to proper SOCIAL DISTANCING PROTOCOLS. MASKS are always required, even if dropping something off. If the office is full, please wait until someone walks out and you are buzzed in. We appreciate your patience in advance!
