January 18, 2015

This week in science we have begun our study of pill bugs and sow bugs. The children were interested to learn that they are not bugs but are crustaceans like crabs and lobsters!

In math, we have continued our review of 2-d and 3-d shapes.

During writing time, we are finishing up our unit on Narratives. This week, children will bring home their daily writing for this unit, please let them share it with you. They are all making such great progress!

News and Information

On Friday we read a book called Each Kindness by Jacqueline Woodson. In response to this book we have begun a weekly "Kindness Circle" Each Friday we will go around our circle and tell the class about one kind thing we did for a friend in our class. The children loved our kindness circle today, please ask them about it!

Once a month our PTO sponsors a salad bar in our cafeteria. The salad bar is free and open to everyone, not just school lunch buyers. Miss Pat reports that almost all kindergarteners are choosing something from the salad bar!

Reminder- Parent - Teacher conferences will be held on Friday, February 12th. Many parents signed up for these conferences during Open House. Please contact me if you have not yet signed up for a conference.
