Homework!

After talking with some parents about math, we are going to send home ALL of the math sheets we work on in class (once they're graded) AND all of the homework pages. However, only the math sheets listed in this homework box are due back to school. All of the other math pages are just to keep you informed as to what we're doing in class so that you can have more resources to support your child at home if you so choose. I don't want your child to have to do 20 pages of homework-worksheets in math each week (which is the approximate number of pages that will be sent home with the "homework" label on the top). PLEASE just check this box for the 2-4 pages that will be due. Thank you.

Homework for the week:

1. Math: Lesson 2 - Patterns in Addition AND Lesson 4 - Add Mentally

2. Computer Agreement - What do we need to include in our classroom agreement about how to use computers responsibly? Please write a list including at least 3 items with an explanation for each. Then sign your name in cursive at the bottom of your paper.

This newsletter is also on our class FaceBook Page!

Still want to sign up to be a part of our group? Email Mrs. Pyle & she will send you a request ASAP!

MidTown Garden Work Day Sept. 19 from 9-12

This weekend is our MidTown Garden Work day and we need all the help we can get to prepare our garden for the fall & winter months. Thank you in advance to all who can come help from 9-12!

Relationships - Unit of Inquiry

Wow. This is why I LOVE teaching your amazing third graders. After a student came into class on 9-11-15 and recommended we discuss the tragedies from 9-11-01, we read an article on newsela about Malala receiving the Nobel Prize for the amazing accomplishments she's already achieved as a young teen. We then had a deep discussion about terrorism and the ways that Malala is "fighting back" by doing what's right for the world and inspiring all around her. Thanks for having such amazing kids for me to teach every day! :)

Grandparents Day!

On September 22, from 2:15-2:45, 3rd Grade will host Grandparent's Day. All Grandparents are welcome to check in at the office, sport an official visitor sticker, and then tour Boyd and participate in some fun activities with their grandchildren before visiting the book fair. If Grandparents would like to leave at 2:45 with your child, they will need to check out in the office. We hope to see you soon!
