Happy Summer

A Message from Outgoing Superintendent Bahr

Congratulations!! We made it! Here we are at the last day of school of an incredible, challenging and unforgettable school year.

I have been so impressed by the resilience staff, students and families have shown throughout the pandemic. This past school year we were faced with what seemed like never ending changes, including numerous schedule changes:

  • Distance Learning September 2-30

  • Smoke from fires in September

  • Hybrid October 1-30

  • Distance Learning November 2-January 8

  • Hybrid January 11-March 19

  • In person every day March 22-June 16

I am grateful for all that we’ve tackled over the past year. But it would be remiss of me if I did not share the tremendous gratitude I have for the many memories we’ve shared over the last eight years. Thank you for sharing your families and your children with our schools. It has been an honor and a pleasure.

I wish you a great summer vacation full of joy and sunshine; and a bright future.

As your new Superintendent I look forward to collaborating with you as we enter the 2021-2022 school year. You have earned a chance to rest and energize yourself over the summer. We want to start the new year being renewed and ready to meet the educational needs of our students.

I have been in the district to meet as many of you as possible and listen to what you have to share. I am impressed with Eatonville and am really looking forward to the future.

Here's to a great summer and a great opening of school. Details regarding our start will be forthcoming.

Student Services Updates

Many changes are coming to Eatonville's Student Services:

  • An additional section of Preschool will be added at Columbia Crest A-STEM Academy on Thursdays & Fridays due to an increase in enrollment.
  • Erica Winscot will be moving back to EES to fill the preschool spot vacated by Tanya Richard's retirement.
  • To support our district mental health needs we hired Brenda Waugh-Reimer, a districtwide mental health therapist, to support student, families, and staff.
  • Because of IEP programming needs and community access requirements/opportunities, there will be a more robust self-contained K-5 program based at Eatonville Elementary.

Summer Meal Sites Available for Children This Summer

The annual Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides children with nutritious meals during the summer. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently released a nationwide waiver extension which allows sponsors to offer summer meals no matter the economic conditions in the area.

Summer meal programs help children aged 18 and under get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow during the summer. This federally funded program is sponsored by many organizations throughout our state, including schools, nonprofit organizations, local governments, tribes, and more.

To find a Summer Meals site near you:

For more information, please contact the Child Nutrition Services department within the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction at 360–725–6200.
