A Message from Principal Coley
Happy Monday, Team!
I hope that the transition back to school for your children last week was smooth!
It is understood that the Zoom Fatigue can be a bit overwhelming for adults and children alike. Given this, teachers will begin to incorporate two breaks for students in 5-10 increments each during the 7:45 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. instructional window. During that time, students should step away from the screen while still remaining logged into to their Zoom meeting. This will allow an opportunity for students to take care of bio needs, stretch, and take a break from screen time.
Please review the newsletter in detail! If you have any questions about information shared, please do not hesitate to ask. Have an Amazing Week on Purpose!

Monitoring Mondays
Monitoring Mondays is an initiative designed to support continued partnership between parents and teachers, as they work together to monitor student attendance and academic progress. Utilizing the Family Portal, parents will be able monitor student attendance and grades every Monday, after 12 Noon. Following, parents are to review student completion of graded assignments and overall attendance. If concerns arise, parents should contact their child's teacher. Together is Better and we are certain that through a shared commitment, student achievement will flourish. The flyer below will be shared with families every Monday, via Class Dojo. If you need help accessing the Family Portal, please send an email to Mrs. Cox, Administrative Assistant at: Kim.Cox@pgcps.org.

In the light of current events, teachers paused from the delivery of scheduled lessons on Thursday to be of support to students. We gently guided students to understand the current state of our nation and spread the importance of peace, love and kindness. Feel free to share the linked read-alouds/short films with students as they're bound to assist in continuing conversations at home specific to the beauty of diversity, inclusiveness, and social justice.

#TeamPrinceton UPDATES and KUDOS
On December 22, students who earned Principal's Honor Roll joined on Zoom to Party with the Principal. They decorated Gingerbread Houses, shared laughs, and made a commitment to continue to strive for academic achievement. Mrs. Cox shared how to make fancy Gingerbread House Doors and Dr. Wright encouraged all to pause frequently to make sure their Gingerbread Houses passed the "Taste" test! :)
Party with Principal events will occur Quarterly.
Ms. Thompson, Kindergarten Teacher, led her students in a Vision Board activity last week. Students discussed what they see for their future and it was a delight to hear of what they desire. Take a look at the detailed picture shared by a student who desires to be a Firefighter!
Ms. Ogarro's Kindergarten students absolutely loved learning about subtraction through the a video that expressed the concept of "taking away!" They focused intently and their engagement was evident.
Mrs. Fleurimond, Ms. Howard, and Ms. Dean were just a few teachers who were caught leading with love as they engaged students in rich reflection about current events on Thursday. Readings specific to diversity, inclusiveness, and social justice were enjoyed by students, allowing the spread of love and kindness to be appreciated.
