Bowling Season Ends at AHSAA Regional

Hewitt-Trussville Bowling had a successful 2017-2018 season, but it came to an end on Friday at the AHSAA North Regional Tournament. Both Hewitt teams advanced to regionals as only 32 teams across all classifications qualified. The North Regional was held at Leland Lanes in Tuscaloosa.

The Boys team finished qualifying as the #9 seed in the event. In the opening round, the Huskies faced off with Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa. The Patriots picked up the win by a score of 1,311-1,271. It marked the end of a fantastic season for the Boys. The team put together a 9-1 record to win the area.

The Girls team finished qualifying as the #12 seed in the event. In the first round the Huskies matched up against the #5 seed Hartselle. Hewitt dropped the match by a score of 1,147-847. The Girls team also had a great year as they finished second in the area with a record of 8-2.

Head Bowling Coach Tommy Abney said, “We had a fantastic season. With only one returning player from the Boys and no returning players on the Girls side, the Boys won the area and the Girls finished second. Our Senior leadership played a large role in our success. The players were an absolute joy to work with and we had great parental support. Unfortunately, we fell short in regional play. I am looking forward to next season."
