Welcome Back!
We’re excited for the 2015-16 school year. There are some exciting projects and events on the horizon, including the second year of the successful Utah History Day introduced in Ogden School District last year.
In the spring, many K-12 teachers applied to co-teach research projects with the District Teacher Librarians. Stay tuned for highlights from these projects throughout the year. In the meantime, visit the Library Program website to see how our students THINK, CREATE, SHARE, and GROW.
Introducing Our New DTLs
Lisa Pockrus has been a librarian since 2003, mainly at the elementary level. Lisa received National Board Certification in Library Media while teaching in Florida. When she first moved to Ogden, she spent a year at Ben Lomond High School. She has also taught third grade but is glad to be back in the Ogden School District and is happy to be part of the District Library Program.
Jessica Tonnies has been in the classroom for the past eight years. Five of those years were in Ogden School District at Odyssey Elementary. She has been working on her Masters in Library and Information Science for the past two years and will complete the degree at the end of this school year. She loves youth services and is especially interested in young adult literature. She is excited to be working with the district librarians this year!
Look for their familiar and friendly faces in your school.
Library Clerk Training: What Do YOU Geek?
During the training, library clerks "geek"ed classroom management, library orientation, lesson ideas, and collection development in preparation for September. Many thanks to Tori Donahoe and Rebecca Becker for their contributions to the training!
