Cougar Connection
St. Columba Catholic School - News every Friday - 1/8/21
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas and New Years and enjoyed the time together with family.
This first week back just zipped on by! It went by so quickly that I needed an extra day to get the first newsletter of 2021 out to everyone.
In a reflection of how quickly things are moving, Thursday, January 14th, will be the last day of the second quarter. Hard to believe that we will already be halfway through this school year!
Next week, all of our students will be participating in the second window of STAR Assessments for the year. Please ensure all students are getting a good night sleep and a good breakfast each day next week! We are excited to see the growth that our students have made from the beginning of the year!
Finally, I ask for your prayers for one of our students. Over Christmas vacation, one of our 8th graders, Alex Polifka, was diagnosed with cancer. While the signs are encouraging for a good recovery, this will be a long process for Alex and his family and we know that the power of prayer is amazing. The more people we can get rallying around Alex and his family through prayer the better!
Here is a look ahead at the upcoming events on campus:
- Monday, January 11:
- Tuesday, January 12:
- Wednesday, January 13:
- Thursday, January 14: Pizza/Root Beer Float Parties (Kinder, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th grades)
- Friday, January 15: Preschool HALF DAY; K-8 NO SCHOOL; Car Raffle Sales End
Blessings,
Mr. Amann

The good news is that we will officially make a profit from this fundraiser. We are still far away from our $50,000 goal; needing to sell 1,154 more tickets.
We are not sending home physical tickets this year due to COVID-19. All entries need to be purchased through our online portal at

STAR Testing Winter Window
During the next 2 weeks, our students will be taking the STAR Assessment for the 2nd time this year. This assessment will help us understand how our students are growing and what adjustments need to be made to finish the year strong.
