Hillcrest Elementary News
Pick-Up and Drop-Off
Thank you for helping keep our drop off and pick up areas safe by keeping your cell phones out of reach while driving. You and our learners safety are important to us.
Coats & Hats
It's the time of year to add a layer of clothing as your learner heads to Hillcrest. Our mornings are crisp and cool, needing a coat and hat. Label those items to make sure they get home! Fall mornings are the best for playing with friends on the playground.
Lost & Found
If your learner has left something behind, the lost and found is located near the front office. Have them check there for any missing items.
Check Backpacks and Folders
Remember to empty out backpacks and check your learner's folder. We are halfway through the first quarter and are excited at the progress each learner is making at Hillcrest. Families can help at home by having a routine bedtime, communicating with teachers, and reinforcing behavior expectations. We are better together!
Homecoming Parade...Friday, September 30
Happy Homecoming Bobcats!
On Friday, all buildings in the Brookings School District will dismiss at 1:30pm so that everyone can attend the Bobcat Homecoming Parade at 3pm. The parade route is the same as last year... It begins on the corner of 6th St. and 5th Ave. at the old Newman's Gas Station. It moves south on 5th Ave. to Front St., then west on Front St., and north down Main Ave., ending at 6th St. For everyone's safety, please keep children, and perhaps a few adults, within 5 feet of the curbs along the parade route so that they stay out of the way of parade traffic. We will remind those in the parade to pass out candy within 5 feet of the curbs as well. Remember, Friday is a RED OUT day, and we look forward to seeing the streets lined in red and a stadium full of RED at the 7pm homecoming football game vs. the Yankton Bucks. GO BOBCATS!
THANK YOU PTA!!!
The Brookings Backpack Program will provide a free weekend supply of kid-friendly means and snacks to school-age children and youth (Head Start through 12th grade) who might not have enough food resources at home.
