SECURITY UPDATES
To enter the school, you will continue to use the main entrance, Door #1. There is a security camera located to the left of the doors, as pictured in this article. Please stand in front of the camera and ring the "doorbell". You will be greeted via the intercom and when cleared, the door will be unlocked. At this point, we are still using the double doors inside. Please wait for the door to be unlocked (light turns green) and enter the office to check in.
Thanks again for your patience and partnership in making Jefferson a safe learning place for our students.
STRUGGLING FINANCIALLY?
During this festive season of giving, it often becomes difficult to make ends meet. Are you struggling to pay for your child’s meals at school? You may qualify for the Federal Free and Reduced School Meal program. The program is confidential (your child doesn’t even have to know) and easy to apply for. To view some frequently asked questions, visit the Food Service website: http://www.taherfood4life.org/schools/merrill/freereduced-meals/
We have also included the application below for your convenience. Please fill out both pages and return it in a sealed envelope with “MAPS Food Service” written on the front and we will submit it for you. If you would like us to send home a printed copy, please let us know and we would be happy to do so!

Snow Gear
In Kindergarten through grade 3 we require students to have snow pants on outside during recess and at the end of the school day. This is to ensure they are warm and stay dry for the remainder of the day. To try and teach the 4th and 5th graders responsibility in decision making, we allow them to make the choice on snow pants since we believe they understand the consequences of not wearing them (they will be cold, they could be wet for the remainder of the day, etc.).
Although it is not likely to be close to 50 anytime soon, if the temperature is under 50 degrees, we require students to wear a coat outside or they will be asked to stay inside for recess.
It is also suggested to have something to cover their ears and mittens/gloves as some of our mornings have already become quite cold. In addition a scarf and an extra pair of socks may be helpful in case your child's feet do become wet. Thank you for your support as we keep your children safe and warm while they enjoy the winter weather.
