Bulldog Bulletin
Nov. 4 - 8
Congratulations to all of our Bulldog students who were recognized last week at our first quarter Bulldog Pride Assemblies. Demonstrating Bulldog Pride means that you are polite, respectful, model integrity, self-discipline, and put forth your best effort (P.R.I.D.E.). Students are recognized for following our school-wide expectations in a variety of ways - earning a "paw", a positive pride referral (Good News Call of the Day), and being recognized at our quarterly assemblies. Videos of our assemblies can be found on our @ghesprincipal Facebook page.
A special thanks to Derek Futrell, Parkway Baptist Pastor, GHES parent, and community partner for making time to serve as "Principal for a Morning" on Oct. 29. We would also like to thank our PTA for a delicious treat for faculty and staff on Thursday. The Candy Apple Bar was a perfect surprise for our teachers. We appreciate you.
With Fall weather finally arriving in Virginia, we are excited to celebrate "Beautification Week" at GHES. SEL buddy classes will be planting pansies around our school this week. Thank you to PTA for sponsoring this beautification project.
As we kick off the month of November, we are challenging our school community to participating in an "Attitude of Gratitude." Let's be intentional to show our gratitude for one another throughout the month of November.
We look forward to seeing many of our families at two of my most favorite GHES traditions - the 3rd grade Veteran's Day program and Grandparent's breakfast.
Reminder that Tuesday, November 5 is a teacher workday - no school for students.
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Courtney Jones
Proud Principal

Gifted Testing Referrals
CCPS provides gifted education services to eligible students. In order for a student to be evaluated for eligibility, additional areas of strength, and/or CBG Academy admission, a Gifted Program Services Referral and Review Form must be submitted to start the process. These forms may be completed by parents/guardians, community members, teachers, or students and are available throughout the year during normal operating hours from counseling or main office staff. Verbal or email communications do not serve as a substitute for this form.
Signed and dated referral forms must be submitted to the student's school by the end of the school day on the referral deadline date to be considered for assessment during the testing window for that grade level. If any of these dates fall on a weekend, school holiday/break, or snow day, the deadline is the end of the next school day in which school is in session.
Referral deadlines are as follows:
- October 15 - students currently in grade 5
- December 15 - students currently in grades 2-4
- March 15 - students currently in KG or grade 1
Need to report your child's absence?
*If you complete this Google form, you do not need to send in a written note.
