The River Hawk
Rio Norte News - March 3, 2023
A Note From the Principal
Good Morning River Hawk Families,
Well, that Ground Hog sure got it right this year and winter is not going away! While the cold, rain, and snow flurries have been a lot for us in Santa Clarita, I don't think anyone will argue the snow pack in our mountains is a wonderful thing for our California drought. Although, it being spread out a little more would have definitely been helpful for those living there!
Congratulations to Ms. Pulaski's homeroom and the Blue House for winning our Friday House Activity! They spelled 76 words out of River Hawks. Impressive!
Our Science Olympiad advisor was contacted this week to notify him that our Rio Team 1, who earned 7th place actually won 5th place due to calculation errors made! While Team 2 is still the only one to advance to State, we are so excited and proud of our students on Team 1 and wanted to acknowledge this error and celebrate them!
There is quite a bit to share in this newsletter, so be sure to scroll all the way down so that you don't miss anything! As a reminder, the 8th grade Universal Trip deadline is this Friday, March 10th by 3 p.m.

ASB proudly presents the Rio Spring Fling on Friday, March 10th after school from 3-5 p.m. The Donut Truck is coming and is included in the cost of the event. Tickets are on sale for $15 until Thursday. Friday tickets will be $20, so buy before Friday! | District Black History Month Art Show Our very own 7th grade student, Rosie Winslade, entered a beautiful piece into our district's Black History Month Art Show focusing on our core values of Caring, Courage, Creativity, and Community. Her piece was one of several selected to be on display and showcased! I had the privilege of hearing Rosie speak to her joy over the differences in her friendships at Rio Norte as she explained her piece was meant to represent the wonderful friends in her life. I have to say, I agree with Rosie that our differences are what make us special, and what a boring world it would be if we were all alike. Congratulations to Rosie! |
