rose lane principal letter...

Hello, Rose Lane Families and Caregivers:

This is such a beautiful time of year, and we have a lot to be grateful for here at Rose Lane! The weather is terrific; our school procedures and routines are well-established; our teachers are working very effectively towards helping kids to grow in advance of our upcoming MAP test in December; and Madison School District has begun offering parents the opportunity to have their children vaccinated if they so choose. Also, for families whose children are enrolled in MVA this year, please know that you are able to transfer your child back to in-person instruction by selecting this option for Quarter 3.

Families, your generosity during Thanksgiving Sharing has been at the top of my list of things to be grateful for as well. We have raised nearly $2,750 in donations so far, and I appreciate Mrs. Mersch, Mrs. Merrill, Rocket Boosters, and Madison Christian Church for leading our efforts towards our goal of $3,000. Thank you all for helping to maximize our community spirit through Thanksgiving Sharing. If you would like to contribute to this effort, here is the link: https://givebutter.com/thanksgivingsharing

When I reflect on where we were at this time last school year, I realize that back in mid-November of 2020, we were preparing for a return to virtual instruction. That was a very difficult period for staff, students, and parents alike! I'm glad that it is over, and very grateful that we have been able to be on campus each and every day of this school year. As we approach Thanksgiving of 2021, I want to share how much we appreciate each of you for selecting Rose Lane as your school of choice. We love all of our students, and are so grateful to each of their families. Best wishes to you for a safe, healthy, bountiful, and wonderful Thanksgiving break, which will begin this Wednesday. We will return to campus on Monday November 29th, and we intend to welcome kids forward to the rest of the quarter and beyond. What a difference a year has made!

Sincerely,

Rose Devine

news from rose lane's assistant principal...

Hello Rose Lane Families!

I hope you have been having a tremendous year so far! I wanted to let you know about a couple of important things today.

The first item is our MAP testing that will be starting on November 30th. The MAP test is our way of measuring student’s growth in the areas of Math and Reading. It is an untimed test that adjusts based on correct or incorrect answers. After the students finish the test they are provided with a score that allows the teacher to understand what skills each individual student needs support in. The score also shows us the students strengths and what skills to continue to reinforce. We ask that during this next month you ensure that your child is at school on time each day and that they are getting an adequate amount of sleep. Please take a look at the MAP schedule below to see which days each grade level is testing. Thank you so much for your support with this.

The second item is a special announcement! We have just finished creating our new Rose Lane Instagram account and will be starting to post on November 29th. This account will be one more great way that we can show you some of the amazing things taking place at Rose Lane each week! Please follow us @madisonazroselane. We can’t wait to share our daily adventures with you!

Your Rose Lane Assistant Principal,

Andre’ Reyes

Music News...

Rose Lane Music classes are jamming with a blast from the past this month. Your young musicians are learning a little bit about late 60's/early 70's rock. To align with this music history, we are playing Mr. Roach's original tune "Rock Band Hippie Drum Circle". You might hear your kid singing it at home!
