The Manning Weekly Newsletter
May 1, 2020
Dear Families,
Happy May Day! The Manning Leadership Team is meeting early next week to:
- Finalize the calendar for this year, with details about finals and end-of-year celebrations. Please understand that Dr. Glass has asked us to remain in remote learning through the end of our planned year. Students should plan to be "in school" through Friday, May 22.
Finalize our procedures for allowing students to pick up their Yearbooks, their artwork and other items from school.
Look for a newsletter from me on Tuesday evening with those details, and thanks for your patience with us.
Also, PTA asked me to share that Staff Appreciation Week is May 4-8, and they are asking you to join us in expressing gratitude to our teachers and staff.
Who has big plans for the weekend? How about spending a little time writing a quick note of gratitude to your Manning teachers? Let's lift them up by sharing our appreciation. The PTA will place a plastic box outside of the school on Friday, May 1 where you can drop off your notes, which will be included in our teacher survival gift baskets later in the week.
Please place your notes in an envelope or fold up and label with teacher's name. Let's fill their baskets with uplifting messages! The box will be emptied each day to keep the notes safe and dry and the last day to drop off will be Wednesday, May 6.
The entry to the main parking lot is being resurfaced (Yay!), so please pull into the bus loop off of 32nd Avenue. The box will be placed at the front entrance of the school.
Here's a new way to have fun each day! During Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week Manning students are invited to create bitmojis of their teachers and staff and post in their grade-level Google Classroom. I will post some of the most creative and entertaining bitmojis on Manning's Instagram account. Let's have some fun!
Thank you for honoring our teachers, and thanks, as always, for sharing your kids with us. It is our honor to serve them.

Online Learning "Bell" Schedule
Students: Having trouble finishing an assignment? We're here to help!
If you're having trouble getting an assignment completed, here are some additional supports we have in place:
- Reach out to your teacher and let them know you're working on it. They will count you present and work with you on a due date that's manageable.
- Check your emails! The front office staff will email students directly if they've missed something with an offer to help. If you respond to that email, we'll know they're working on school, mark you present, and get you the support you need!

8th Grade Continuation Update
Continuation will begin with an 8th Grade Slideshow. We would love pictures of your 8th grader as babies and toddlers, as middle schoolers, hanging with their friends, playing sports, singing in choir, etc. If you're willing to share them, please put them in THIS DROPBOX! Deadline for submission is Friday, May 8.
Also, as we know how important it is to give our incredible 8th graders the chance to say goodbye to one another before they head to high school, we have rescheduled the 8th Grade Picnic at Maple Grove Park to Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 10am. We hope you'll join us!
