2016 OWP Summer Workshops
at Miami University
This summer, the Ohio Writing Project offers credit workshops for every teacher, at every grade level, in every content area. Plus, with the brand new OWP Tuition Guarantee, teachers who are full or part-time, regardless of state residency, are now eligible for reduced tuition rates.

37th Annual Workshop on the Teaching of Writing
Join us for this four-week workshop and be part of a writing and teaching community where you will study contemporary approaches to teaching writing, explore your own writing, and share best classroom techniques.

The Role of Texts in the Classroom
In this hybrid workshop, explore picture books, articles, short stories, poetry and all kinds of text as a way to link what we read with writing instruction. This class will focus on creating tools and resources collaboratively with other classroom teachers to create lessons for instruction.
June 6-July 1, hybrid (3 credits)
Why Story Still Matters
In this one week class, teachers will relive the 4-week experience while examining the many ways that stories exist in academic writing.
June 13-17, Oxford (2 credits)
Why Story Still Matters
Implementing Reading and Writing Workshop
Participants will explore current practices for implementing reading and writing workshops within the classroom through inquiry and reflection.

Learning From Assessment
Teachers will answer questions around assessment by reading current literature, discussing possible practices for grading and creating assessments plans for their own classroom.

OWP Assessment Class 2016
Content Area Literacy
Content area teachers will practice ways to incorporate literacy standards for informational and argument reading and writing, looking at ways to layer existing units and develop new ways.
