The stock market crash of 1929 did not alone cause the Great Depression. However, it did have a significant part in it. Stock prices continues to drop as the Depression raged on.

I believe the stock market crash had a significant effect on literature. It played a part in sending all of America into the Great Depression. Literature took a turn when the Depression rolled around.
