Schoology

District 303 is beginning to use Schoology, an integrated learning management system that provides course management, mobile learning, and support for system-wide communication. Full implementation across the district starts this fall with grades 6-12+. District-wide implementation begins in the fall of 2023. However, you will see Schoology being utilized at the elementary level with courses such as Empower, LRC, and possibly by your child’s classroom teacher. Schoology enables our students, parents and teachers to engage with learning materials and their school community from the classroom and beyond. We look forward to using Schoology in our classrooms to enhance connectivity and communication across our district.

You should have received an e-mail with an invitation to Schoology. If you have not, please check your spam folder. If you need further assistance, you can visit the D303 Instructional Tech Support for Families Site or contact your LRC Director: Melissa Bradley at melissa.bradley@d303.org for Davis or Christine Heins at christine.heins@d303.org for Richmond.

August- Sustained Attention

Executive function refers to a set of essential skills that help us focus, plan, prioritize, work toward goals, self-regulate behaviors and emotions, adapt to new and unexpected situations, and ultimately engage in abstract thinking, planning and learning. Executive function is what gets us down to business even when we'd rather just hang out and do nothing. This month Davis is focusing on the executive functioning skill of sustained attention. This means we will be teaching students about their ability to maintain focus on something, even if there are distractions happening at the same time. Some things you can do at home to work on sustained attention with your child are; encouraging your child to talk about the smaller portions of an activity, involve your child in activities that require them to teach or assist others, allow for interesting or stimulating tasks to follow boring or mundane ones, and give clear and concise instructions.

Davis is Blooming in the News!

Last Sunday our Davis garden was featured on the 10:00 o’clock news on NBC 5! Allison Thomas took this beautiful picture and submitted it last week. We are so proud of all the hard work our student council, Fuel up to play 60, Wasco Nursery, and the community have done to create such a wonderful garden for all to enjoy.

We "CARE"

Every day we start our mornings at Richmond with a morning meeting. We call our meetings CARE meetings. CARE stands for Creating A Respectful Environment. The purpose of these meetings is to build strong teacher to student and student to student relationships and have strong classroom communities. We want all of our students to feel connected to Richmond and our goal is to be responsive and proactive in meeting the needs of students and to build trust and positive relationships. Many of the skills learned in CARE meetings, students will be able to apply throughout life. We have a variety of themes such as gratitude, respecting differences, growth mindset, kindness and more. Your child’s classroom teacher will highlight in his/her newsletters more info about each month’s theme.
