Pacific Sky Family Update
Principal's Weekly Message 2/6-2/10
Dear Pacific Sky Families,
We are excited to announce that our Pacific Sky families have raised $27,517 so far! We are getting close to our school goal of $80,000 to support our extraordinary STEAM+ program. Remember, today, February 5th, is the last day to be entered into the first opportunity drawing when you contribute at the $400 level! Please donate HERE! https://pledgestar.com/pacificsky
Remember that our all-school run date for the Jogathon event will be held tomorrow, Monday, February 6th on campus. Parents - great news! This year Jogathon will be open to spectators. Come and cheer on your student and support all those participating in this great fundraising effort.
Students - please remember to bring your refillable water bottle.
Also, please remember to wear the color assigned to your grade to show your team and grade spirit:
Kindergarten (Blue) & 1st Grade (Purple), running time: 8:30-9 am and 9-9:15 am
2nd Grade (Red) & 3rd Grade (Orange), running time 9:15-9:45 am and 9:45-10 am
4th Grade (Green), 5th Grade (Yellow), 6th Grade (Blue), running time 10:15-10:45 am and 10:45-11 am
All runs will be followed by students enjoying DMSEF-donated Otter Pops popsicles.
Gratefully,

Private School Recommendations
This is often the time of year when families are applying to private schools for the next school year. Please know that Del Mar Union School District staff do not write letters of recommendation or fill out any type of rating scales for private schools. All of our local private schools are notified each year and are aware of this policy. This will not inhibit admission in any way. All requests for academic records should be sent to the school office by a student’s parent or guardian. Due to student privacy rights, school staff may not release records to outside parties without educational rights holder permission.
School Yearbooks
This year, we will partner with Treering to create a school yearbook. Click on this link to learn how to order.

STEAM+ Spotlight: Curiosity and Wonder
Our STEAM+ programs ignite curiosity and wonder as students use multiple modalities to explore content standards and their own areas of interest.
Commemorate your 6th grader’s memories at Pacific Sky
The Del Mar Schools Education Foundation (DMSEF) is excited to start a new Legacy Tree program at Pacific Sky. We will offer all 6th graders the chance to have a leaf, engraved with their name and promotion year, on this special tree to commemorate their time at Pacific Sky and leave a legacy. You may reserve a leaf for your 6th-grade student with a contribution of $400 to DMSEF. This will also count for the Jogathon and prizes!
Please use the Legacy Tree form to indicate whether you would like to reserve a leaf for your student. Let us know whether you have already made a contribution of at least $400 to DMSEF this year or if you still need to make a $400 contribution to secure your child’s leaf.
Hello Pacific Sky Families, Our very first Pacific Sky International Night will be on Feb 10 Fri, 5-7 PM. It will be a fun-filled evening of international performances, food and crafts. It will take place at the Innovation Center (indoor) and the lunch area (outdoor). International feast (outdoor) and booth/craft (indoor) will be available at 5-6:15 PM and performance (indoor) will start at 6:15 PM. We are very excited to have representations from these countries/cultures: China, India, Ireland, Italy, Laos, Korea, Palestine, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Sweden.
In addition to the free international feast from the world, we will prepare pizza slices and water bottles for purchase ($1 each). For us to better estimate how many pizzas and water bottles we should prepare, please RSVP at https://bit.ly/3QVR9OQ.
When you come to the event, please enter from the top gate close to Solterra Vista Pkwy and walk to the lunch area. You will see the food tables there and there will be a passport table by the Innovation Center entrance for you to pick up a passport and enter inside for booths/craft/performances. Please consume the food in the outdoor area.
As the volunteers will start setting up in the Innovation Center right after school, there will be no Math Club on Feb 10.
We also will have our next restaurant night at Jersey Mike’s on Feb 8 Wed, 10am-8pm. Please consider getting some great subs at Jersey Mike’s and supporting the PTA at the same time. See this flyer http://bit.ly/3HB61PX for more details.
Thank you!
