Delta Zeta
Twin Cities Alumnae Bi-Monthly Mini (Print) - March 2014
President's Letter
Greetings!
As you look ahead towards spring, I hope you are able to join us at an upcoming event to celebrate our sisterhood.
Philanthropy Night with Second Harvest Heartland
A snowstorm prevented us from our heading to Second Harvest for our philanthropy event in February but it has been rescheduled for early April! We had nearly 20 volunteers ready to help our neighbors in need so I’m hopeful each of you (plus a few more) can participate in a few weeks.
Region Day
Will you consider joining your collegiate and alumnae sisters in Region VIII at Region Day? It is planned for Saturday, April 26 at the Hilton in Bloomington. We’d love to have you attend the awards dinner that evening followed by fun night of sisterhood and service. Please check out the article within this newsletter for additional details.
Delta Zeta Dump
As you do your spring cleaning, please take a few moments to pack up your unwanted treasures for the Delta Zeta Dump. The sale supports the Gamma Scholarship which is awarded annually to assist a collegian with their sorority dues. For more information, please don’t hesitate to contact Megan Trout.
Bowling for the Gamma Scholarship
In addition to the Delta Zeta Dump, another favorite event is right around the corner – Bowling at the Lakeville Family Bowl to support the Gamma Scholarship on Saturday, May 17.
Thank You
Without your tireless and continued efforts as an alumnae volunteer, Delta Zeta could not continue to thrive as it has for nearly 112 years. No act of volunteerism is too big or small. Your actions inspire others to get involved. In honor of National Volunteer Week in April, thank you for all you do each day to exemplify the high ideals of our Sorority!
A Special Thank You to Stephanie, Julie and Deb
I want to express my sincere appreciation to Stephanie Erickson, Julie Hauser, and Deb Meagher as they step away as an officer of our chapter at the Spring Brunch later this month. They have served our chapter for a number of years and have shared so much with all of us.
See you soon!

Philanthropy Event - Thursday, April 10, 5:45-8:00 p.m.
Thank you so much to those of you who volunteered to come to the first philanthropy event of the year at Second Harvest Heartland. Unfortunately, due to a lovely Minnesota snowstorm, we had to cancel and reschedule. We had such a wonderful response with so many of you wanting to come to this event, we hope you all can make it to the rescheduled date!
Join us Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Second Harvest Heartland in Golden Valley for our rescheduled philanthropy event. We will be helping to sort, label and re-package bulk food (cereals and pasta for example) that has been donated for those in need. These items will then be donated to food shelves and soup kitchens. Please arrive around 5:45 pm wearing comfortable clothes and closed-toed shoes. You will be asked to remove all jewelry except for wedding bands, so it might be best to leave the bling at home.
Please RSVP to the Evite you have been emailed as we must reserve the amount of spots we need ahead of time. Thank you for volunteering with us, we look forward to another fun event! Any questions can be directed to Philanthropy Chairman, Katie Whitehead at katiewucf@gmail.com.

Bowling for the Gamma Scholarship - Saturday, May 17, 8:00 p.m.
Lakeville Family Bowl
20944 Holyoke Ave
Lakeville, MN 55044
952-469-BOWL (2695)
Bring friends and family and be prepared for a good time while raising money for our scholarship. Here’s how it works: each person spends $20 for 3 games of bowling and shoe rental $10 of that goes into the prize fund with $10 per person going to the scholarship fund. The more people we have, the more funds we raise! When you win money (no skill required) you place your winnings in your team envelope. Extra donations count for your total! The team with the most amount of money in their envelope at the end of the night wins a prize. We will also have a raffle to raise extra funds. If you would like to donate something to the raffle, please contact Holly or simply bring it along. RSVP by evite which will be sent in April or to Holly Thompson at haspeiker@gmail.com or 651-216-9345.
The Lakeville Family Bowl also has a full cash bar and short order kitchen - AWESOME burgers and deep fried snacks. Note: The Bowl does not accept checks or credit cards, but has an ATM available.
DZ Dump - Thursday, June 5 & Saturday, June 7
3505 Humboldt Ave
Minneapolis, MN 55408
Clean out those closets and basements and bring your “priced” stuff to Sylvia Kafkas’s home in the East Calhoun Neighborhood to sell in our annual DZ dump garage sale. We will be accepting donations on Thursday from 7 p.m. -9 p.m. and the sale is on Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. We do not return the items to you so it really is a “dump!” Clothes do not tend to sell unless they are children’s. All proceeds go to the Gamma Scholarship.
Please contact Megan Trout if you can volunteer on Thursday or Saturday, cannot bring your items during the Thursday time, or need help picking up your items. Megan's contact information is megantrout@gmail.com and 507-210-4183.
