An Important Message About Bumpus CHROMEBOOKS
Parents/Guardians,
Hoover City Schools will still be providing Chromebook repair services. The protection plan guidelines still apply.
We will receive Chromebooks that require critical repair on Mondays from 9am to 10am.
Please consider the following prior to bringing your Chromebook in for repair:
Due to COVID-19, once it is submitted for repair, there could be a period of two weeks, or more, that your child is without a Chromebook. Hoover’s technology staff has to take the proper precautions in efforts to remain safe. This includes requiring the devices to be quarantined before a technician services the device.
The only Chromebooks that will be received for repair are Chromebooks in need of critical repair. This means Chromebooks that do not allow learning to take place due to malfunction or damage. All Chromebooks that are turned in with noncritical issues will be returned to the student or parent/guardian.
Please complete this form prior to bringing your Chromebook in for critical repair.
FYI:
If your child’s Chromebook requires critical repair, please be patient and work with us as we receive, send off, and return the Chromebooks to you. We have a system in place that will enable us to implement this process while adhering to all of the guidelines recommended by the CDC. Safety is our #1 goal at Bumpus and we ask for your cooperation in this process.
Drop off and Pick up will be every Monday from 9am to 10am in the Carpool line at Bumpus. We ask that you remain in your car and wait for further instruction during this process. Please ensure that your child’s Chromebook is in critical need of repair before submitting it.
Here are some tips to keep your Chromebook safe from damage:
Always charge the Chromebook overnight so that it is fully charged and available the next day.
Under no condition should a student remove keys or plastic parts from their Chromebooks.
No food or drink near the Chromebook.
Always keep the Chromebook on a flat and stable surface where it will not be bumped or knocked over. This includes both when using it and when charging it.
Never carry the Chromebook in the open position. The lid should be closed when transporting.
The student should be the only person using the Chromebook. The browsing history of the Chromebook is always being recorded and the student will be held responsible for all websites that are accessed.
Parents/Guardians please be vigilant in monitoring the websites your child(ren) visits while on the Chromebook.
Do not place anything on the keyboard before closing the lid (eg. pens, pencils, etc.)
The Chromebook should never be left in a car or any unsupervised area.
The Chromebook should be left in a secure place at home during any trips away from home.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this topic, please contact Mr. Jones jjones@hoover.k12.al.us.
Thank you
