The Ludwig Ledger
Welcome Back!
Starting a year like we never have...
Welcome back! I hope you had a great summer and had a chance to relax and spend quality time with your family!
I want to ensure you that remote learning will look different than it did last spring. Our students will follow a schedule just as they would if they were here in person. Students will begin their day at 7:50 am and end at 12:50 pm. The students will also have one special (Art, Music, PE) each day. The first four hours of their day will be both synchronous and asynchronous. The last hour of their day will be asynchronous.
Attendance
- Students will be expected to attend class in the same manner that they would if they were attending Ludwig in person.
- Teachers will take attendance at the start of each day through a Zoom class and submit it the same way they would if they were in person. If a student is missing, our office will call your home to verify the absence.
- If your child is going to be absent, please call to report them using the attendance line by dialing 815-838-8020 and then pressing 1.
Learning
Remote learning will be a blend of Synchronous and Asynchronous Learning:
Students will participate with their teachers and classmates in live learning experiences.
During this time the teacher and students are engaged in teaching and learning at the same time, within the same platform, using the same content (i.e. instructional delivery of a new topic or real-time discussion of an article or topic using a virtual meeting through Zoom).
Asynchronous Learning
Students are engaged in learning at different times (i.e. students completing assignments/activities shared by the teacher, within a Learning Management System like Seesaw or Google Classroom, and/or contributing to a discussion thread or submitting assignments) with the teacher being available to answer questions or provide feedback during designated times.
Grading
- Students will be graded using traditional grades of A-F.
- Teachers will also give feedback in a variety of ways that address priority standards for each grade level and subject area.
School Supplies and Materials
Please enter the parking lot near the Ludwig Marquee and proceed down to the Gym doors. We will have staff members deliver your student's bag to your car. Please remain in your car at all times, we must ensure the safety of everyone!
