One of the worst hurricanes in Us history affected areas such as South florida, huge parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama which killed nearly 2,000 people and affected some 90,000 square miles of the united states.
houses were destroyed and their possesions were lost.
the streets were flooded.
people were desperate because of their losses and how the hurricane impact their lives.
Economic Impact
Besides the mental and emotional damage this hurricane caused, The economic Impact was devastating, many people lost their homes, transportation and businesses. The unenployment rate increased to an 11.5% leaving a lot of people homeless and without a job which caused them to move to another areas. It affected 19% of us oil production, It spilled nearly as much oil as the Exxon Valdez oil disaster which caused oil prices to increase by $3 a barrel and gas to reach $5 a gallon.
Katrina caused more than $100 billion in damage.
Be aware!
It happened once, but it can happen again. A lot of people lost their businesses because they didn't have insurance to cover them. If only people were mentally prepared about what was going to happen a lot of things could've been avoided. we all should help others and make changes for people that need it.
