Events happening around campus and in the community:
THE PART-TIME STUDENT EMPLOYMENT FAIR
Wednesday, Aug. 19th, 11am-3pm
Tate Student Center, Grand Hall
Local employers on-campus and off-campus will be at the Tate Grand Hall to hire students for part-time positions. This is a great opportunity to land a part-time job and an opportunity to introduce yourself and give your resume directly to a hiring manager.
- Bring copies of your resume
- Do research on the employers and on DAWGlink
- Introduce yourself by thanking the employer for attending the event, stating your name, major, year in school and brief past/current work history. (Elevator pitch)

FREE TUTORING
The Academic Resource Center will begin offering free appointment and drop-in tutoring for the fall semester on Monday, August 24th and will continue tutoring until December 8th (the last day of regular classes). In addition to drop in and appointment tutoring, we will also offer regular test reviews for STAT 2000 and MATH 1101 as well as online MATH/STAT tutoring and writing assistance. We’re also hosting a Barbeque Open House on Wednesday, August 19th from 1-3 pm, so please encourage students to stop by to learn more about the services that we offer.
PREMED, PREDENTAL, PREOPTOMETRY ORIENTATION FOR FRESHMEN AND SOPHOMORES
This session explains how to begin building successful credentials from the start of their academic careers.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The Office of the Athens Clarke County Emergency Management will be hosting a Table Top exercise for this GEMA Region on September 1st. They are requesting Public Health students to be volunteers to assist with registration before and to be runners between the different agencies during the exercise. This would be a fun event to participate in as well as to give you the opportunity to meet and network with Local Public Health, Emergency Management, Hospitals, Local Government, public works, and emergency responders. HEALTH PROMOTION ADVISING ANNOUNCEMENT
Academic advising appointments for undergraduate students in Health Promotion are made through SARA: https://www.franklin.uga.edu/advising/students/Unified_Login.php. Students whose last names begin with A-K schedule with Donovan Hollis; last names beginning with L-Z schedule with Priscilla Carter. If you have any trouble accessing your advisor, please email cphadm@uga.edu.
HSC AFTER HOURS BUILDING ACCESS
All CPH students are welcome and encouraged to utilize the computer lab on the bottom level of Rhodes Hall on the Health Sciences Campus. The lab has a ‘bring your own paper’ printer available for use. There are also 3 study rooms with a table and 4 chairs in each if you are looking for small meet-up locations. The classroom that seats about 25 is available for reservations by emailing cphadm@uga.edu. Rhodes is open from 7:30-5:30 Monday – Friday. You can request access to enter the building 24/7 by completing the Request form for access to Rhodes Hall and Russell Hall (required for after-hours access to study rooms and computer lab in the Rhodes Hall Garden Level). Parking is available for all non-HSC permit holders after 4pm, otherwise, there is a $1/hr pay lot available for use. Come join us and make this campus your campus.
