Teacher Appreciation Week
PTA Happily Presents: Back to the Beach Teacher Appreciation Week, May 1-5
Join in the fun as we celebrate those early morning smiles our students see every day. Help us applaud the time our teachers and staffers spend lesson planning, field tripping in rain or shine, keeping the peace on the playground, corralling students during bus duty and so much more.

Welcome to Mr. Slater!
We are thrilled to have Mr. Slater join our Central family! Mr. Slater will be at Central on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons throughout the rest of the school year. He will be here to help us through our transition this spring and fall. We are so fortunate to have Mr. Slater with us! Read below for more information about him and be sure to give him a warm Central welcome if you happen to see him or talk to him!
Hello!! My name is Nick Slater and I am the new Elementary Dean for Valparaiso Community Schools. I will be housed at Flint Lake but assisting at Central Elementary on Tuesdays and Thursdays the rest of the school year. I started teaching in 2009 at Valparaiso High School. I taught socials studies with a content in AP Economics. I also coached Girls Basketball and Freshmen Baseball at VHS. I was the Intramural Coordinator at VHS also. My wife is a teacher at Hobart High School. We have two wonderful children (Izzy 9 & Jax 4) and one dog named Rudy. I love watching Notre Dame Football in the fall and attending baseball games in the summer. Go White Sox!
