The absolute minimum requirement to get started as a mental health caseworker is to
- Have a Bachelor's degree in a human services or behavioral science
- Have at least one year of experience with working with mentally ill persons

Mental health casework certainly isn't for everyone. If you enjoy helping people, especially neuroatypical people, this is a good career choice. If you feel that you have the resources to deal with people that are often difficult to understand, then mental health is a good career avenue to take. Although a lot of school is required for higher tier jobs, the pay for these jobs is excellent and can go up to $200,000 on average. Starting out as a mental health caseworker would allow you to work your way up to those jobs.
