Thank You for Reading Our Newsletter!
Tamanend Concert Season is in Full Swing!
Congratulations to all of our Tamanend musicians and music teachers who have been busy putting on excellent concerts this month! The whole school was treated to a winter concert preview on December 4. The first winter concert was held on December 6 with the second winter concert held on December 12. In addition, select music groups have been performing throughout the region. We are fortunate to have such talented musicians and music teachers at Tamanend.
Gold’n’Blues has been busy performing out in the community this holiday season! On December 1st, they performed for the XTU Toy Truck Parade at Montgomery Mall, as a "mountain" of toys was created for donation. On December 8th, they helped families affected by Cancer ring in the holiday season at the Gilda’s Club Breakfast with Santa, at Ann’s Choice in Warminster. Next Thursday, December 20th, they will perform for residents of three senior centers. Last but not least, this Saturday evening, December 15th, in collaboration with CB Cares, they are performing twice in downtown Doylestown (weather permitting). They will be performing inside Main Street Marketplace at 6:15pm and outside on the porch of the historic Fountain House (aka Starbucks) at 7:00pm. Check out one or both of the performances!
Reminder--Tamanend Winter Dance--Friday, December 14
The Tamanend Winter Dance will be held Friday, December 14 from 7:30 PM until 9:30 PM. This has traditionally been a very popular event! In order to help alleviate traffic concerns, we have requested the presence of a police officer from Warrington Township to assist us. In addition, we are asking parents who are coming from the Bristol Road side of the school to drop off and pick up their children in the main parking lot. We are asking parents who are coming from the Kelly Road side of the school to drop off and pick up their children at the bus loop.
Tickets will be on sale all week during lunches for $7 each. Tickets may also be purchased at the door when entering the dance Friday night. Students will enjoy dancing in the gymnasium as well as our complementary drinks and refreshments served in the cafeteria. Our theme for the winter dance this year is “Let It Snow!” We hope you enjoy all of our winter wonderland decorations and snowflakes as you enter that evening. We will also crown our Holiday King and Queen before the dance is over. Stay tuned to next week’s announcements as you learn which students were voted on to our Holiday Court for 2018.

Tamanend's STEM Club is in Need of K'Nex
The Tamanend STEM Club will be competing in the Bucks County K’Nex STEM Competition and we are in need of more K’Nex. If you have any old K’Nex taking up precious garage or basement space and are no longer being used in your household, consider donating them to this worthy cause. No donation is too small, we will take them all!
You may send K’Nex in with your student or drop them off to the main office. We appreciate any and all donations.
Thank you!

Reminder--Student Assistance Program (SAP)
The Student Assistance Program (SAP) has been established in schools throughout Pennsylvania. SAP Programs provide schools with the means to identify, refer, and support students who are exhibiting behavioral, academic, or attendance issues that put them at risk. Tamanend has a team of dedicated school personnel who are trained to assist students, faculty and family members in identifying problems that impact the student’s ability to function in school. The team can also offer students and their families resources to assist them in alleviating these problems. For more information about the SAP Program, please click here. To complete a SAP referral form for a Tamanend student, please click here.
Reminder--The Next Meeting of the Tamanend Parent Book Club is January 10
Join us for the Tamanend Parent Book Club. This year, we will be reading Raising Kids to Thrive (2015) by Kenneth R. Ginsburg, MD. The book describes "the Lighthouse Parenting Strategy" in which parents balance unconditional love and high expectations with the goal of raising resilient and happy children. This book club will follow a "no-pressure" format in which the facilitator will present a summary of the chapter and open the floor for discussion. We will share resources and ideas with the goal of helping the entire Tamanend parent community navigate the challenges of raising adolescents.
Meetings are held at 6:30 in the Tamanend Library

Please email Dr. Brian Caughie at bcaughie@cbsd.org if you are interested in participating.

If you would like to participate in this milestone experience, please make sure that you follow the steps to upload your photo, fill out the bottom portion of the flyer at this link, and submit order form and payment by Friday January 11, 2019 to Mrs. Gerth in room 231.
**We will NOT be accepting photos that need to be uploaded. All uploading must be done on your own to the site mentioned below. The due date for this optional 9th grade yearbook opportunity is Friday January 11, 2019.
