WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE CLASSROOM??
- Homework: Students need to get their weekly reflections signed, complete bingo and the math problem. Please return everything together in the homework folder by Friday!
- Language Arts -Unit 6-Advancements in Technology! Click Here for the parent letter. The essential question we are exploring is, What Helps us Solve Problems? We will be looking at different characters in different stories and analyzing how they solve their problems. We will be focusing on identifying key details and summarizing, determining the central message in a text, and comparing and contrasting themes.
- Writing -Students will be working researching different fairy tale characters who use their intelligence to escape dangerous situations. Then they will take their research and write an informational essay about those characters, using facts and details from the information they find while researching.
- Spelling- Irregular plurals and long oo and short oo.
- Vocabulary- Students will be able to use reference materials and context clues to define domain-specific vocabulary. They will show their understanding of the words by using them in a sentence during collaborative conversations and in their writing.
- Math -We will continue Unit 4-FRACTIONS! Click here for the Unit 4 Parent Letter with lots of great resources. So far we have covered partitioning shapes into equal parts, and fractions on a number line. We will move into equivalent fractions and comparing different fractions in the next few weeks. Continue to practice your multiplication facts at home!!! We will also continue working on solving multi-step word problems. Students will solve each problem by identifying the given information in the problem, understanding what they are solving for and correctly solving it using the appropriate operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication or division).
- Innovation: Students will work on various technology apps and explore ways to present their learning on different topics using a variety of resources.
- 7 Habits - Habit of the month-Habit 4: Think-Win-Win!
If you have any box tops at home please send them in! We collect box tops in the classroom all year long!
