Superintendent's Message

We do thank you for you cooperation and patience as we temporarily shifted to virtual learning. Please note that as we reopen this week, our primary goal will be to keep in person learning up and running.

Let us continue to keep one another in our thoughts and prayers. We are very hopeful that in the near future . . ."This too shall pass."

Thank you all for everything!

COVID Rapid Testing

In partnership with DHEC, and at no cost to our district, we are excited to announce that we will begin voluntary, on-site, weekly COVID rapid testing starting Thursday, September 16, 2021 for scholars and staff. The weekly rapid reliable test will be administered by staff from DOCGO.

Parents will be required to complete a consent for scholars to participate. Links to the consent form for each school are below. One letter with directions is included below, but the directions are the same for all schools.

DIG stem theatre

The 2nd DIG Drive-In Theater will be a celebration of STEM with the goal of increasing awareness and access to STEM programming through experiments and exhibits while also maintaining social distance guidelines as well as keeping families safe and healthy.

Our event is a hands-on, family immersive opportunity that will take place at a Drive-In Theater where each child can become a STEM star from the comfort of their family's car. This allows for the opportunity for both parents and children to learn the importance and need for STEM in their everyday lives.

DIG is committed to providing educational and inspirational offerings to rural communities at little to no charge in order to engage the largest possible audience, especially under-served populations.

Opportunities for Teachers

Williston School District 29 announces a partnership with the Center of Excellence to Prepare Teachers of Children of Poverty. The center is launching a new online professional learning series. (See link below.)

https://learn.fmucenterofexcellence.org/

Live webinars are free, but teachers can view live and archived webinars (50+ hours or professional content) by subscribing to the series.

Teachers can receive a $10 subscription discount to the series. To subscribe, sign up using your district email and this code: OPLSPartnerBarnwell29.

The district has funds to pay for your subscription if you are interested. You must subscribe by Friday, September 17.

Questions? Please reach out to Nancy Brady-Wood.

Additionally, the center will hold a 2021-2022 Book Study event, featuring Myron Dueck and his newest book Giving Students a Say: Smarter Assessment Practices to Empower and Engage.

Dueck will facilitate the study of his book in five online sessions beginning in October.

Up to three seats in this limited access event are available at no charge for each Partner District.

Please let Nancy Brady-Wood know if you are interested in participating.
