The summers in Greece are hot and dry. Winter is usually cold and wet, its not uncommon for it to snow, but for the south; and islands, winter will be more mild. Much of Greece has snow during winter, expected in higher mountains.

In Greece the older language was modern Greek. Now of days the standard modern Greek is more common. There are many different forms of the Greek language depending on where you travel.

These are a few folkways in Greece that are common. One thing is having lamb on holidays or special occasions. An instrument used in a lot of their folk music is a Lyre.

Its always better to find out sooner than later... Some taboos in Greece include, homosexuality, marrying a woman that is older than you, marrying someone who is not Greek, the ¨Stay-at-home- dad¨, and the ¨ok¨ hand gesture that we use in America means something totally different, very inappropriate in Greece.

About their culture

While in Greece you might notice a few subcultures. One would be the rock look. In the 90s death metal rock influenced the young and hasn't gone away, the elders think its a phase. Another would be the Greek fraternity and sorority community found in America, which is found at many colleges and universities across the country the Greek community is roughly only 10% of college students. Things they wear and do symbolize their Greek community. They value family, academics, service, and leadership.

The culture of Greece has evolved over thousands of years stating with Mycenaean Greece. They have many different cultures and states which have influenced the modern Greece.

On the Isthmus of Corinth was in ancient city Greece, which was one of the most powerful and wealthiest of the ancient Greek cities.
