A Message from your School Leaders
Dear Wentworth Families,
The weather has cooled off, and though we are navigating some wet weather and preparing for potential impacts from Hurricane Lee this weekend, we are all grateful for the reprieve from the heat! It is feeling more like fall at Wentworth School.
Students have been doing an excellent job learning the routines and engaging in all the parts of their school day at school. From morning recess, breakfast, arrival and morning work , to participating in school wide announcements and working hard in classes all day we are seeing an abundance of smiles and terrific energy in our learners! Afternoon dismissal routines are really smoothing out, and we appreciate all of your support and cooperation as we settle in to the school year.
It is a joy to work with your children each day!
Warmly,
Kelli Crosby ~ Principal
Brem Stoner ~ Asst. Principal

5th Grade Band - 2023-24
Welcome to 5th Grade Music! I am very excited to work with your young musician this year.
In the beginning band program, instruction is given on the following instruments: flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone and bell kit. If a student decides not to play a band instrument they will still participate in music class by playing an Orff xylophone provided for them here at school during class.
Band classes will begin the week of October 2.
Please go to this link for more information about band

If you have any questions or concerns please contact me.

eCollect Forms
It is time for all families to log into your student's PowerSchool Portal account to update your information and fill out all necessary forms online. We are still seeking this information from about 40 Wentworth Families - your child's teacher will be in touch if you have not yet completed the required online forms. We are here to help, so let us know what you need!
The system allows you to update all of your personal information including phone numbers, address, emergency contacts, etc. It also enables you to electronically acknowledge and sign all of the forms for the start of the year, such as the annual permission forms for Technology, School Handbooks, Field Trips, photo permissions, etc.
Login to your PowerSchool parent portal account at https://scarborough.powerschool.com/public
Once you are connected to your students and logged into the Parent Portal, you will see a new Forms button on the navigation bar. Click this button to view a list of forms available for you to complete for each of your students. The 2023-24 Chromebook form is available now, and many more forms will be added as the new school year opens. These forms, as described above, are ones would have been in paper packets in the past.
Please reach out to your school if you need assistance accessing the forms, or need paper copies sent to you instead.

Celebrations
Birthdays are such an exciting event when you are 8, 9,and 10 years old (and beyond!). However, with 700 students we could be eating cupcakes and managing birthday invitations every single day, which is a big distraction from teaching and learning. While we all love a good cupcake, for equity reasons as well as health and wellness reasons we ask that special celebrations for your child's birthday, including treats and invitations, are managed and occur outside of school.
Thank you for your understanding and anticipated cooperation.

Are you looking for more information about the K-8 Strategic Project and Unified Primary School?
As you might know, on 9/6 Town Council voted to put the K-8 Strategic Project and Unified Primary School on the November 7th ballot and let voters decide on the future for Scarborough students.
Unsure of what the project is?
