Delayed Reopening scheduled for 8/24/20

St. Louis Catholic High School Families,

As we continue to prepare for the 2020-21 school year, we are committed to do everything necessary to operate in a safe manner while providing a quality education for our students. Thousands of details are being determined using the latest information and resources, along with listening to your concerns to make the best decisions for our school. Therefore, we ask for your patience and understanding as we only release information that has been carefully vetted and that we believe can be implemented safely and effectively. As more decisions are made, they will be fully communicated through Halo Notes, emails and on our official website. With the tremendous amount of academic planning, updating the facilities to conform to guidelines, and following healthcare recommendations, delaying the start of school is necessary.

Please see the statement below from the Office of Catholic Schools:

The Office of Catholic Schools is announcing a delayed start for the reopening of schools. Schools will re-open on Monday, August 24, 2020, for both in-person and virtual instruction. This decision was made after consultation with the COVID-19 taskforce, and our healthcare partners. More details will be released in the upcoming days about our virtual school option which will be offered at all schools in the Diocese of Lake Charles.

We anticipate a full reopening plan to be released early next week with more details.

Once again, we completely support and will diligently follow all guidelines mandated for the safe opening of the 2020 school year. The safety and well being of the St. Louis Catholic High School community is of the utmost importance and concern and as information and details become available, they will be announced.

Finally, back in March, I asked our faculty to look to Mary, Undoer of Knots, to help us untangle the knots in our lives. I invite us all, as a community, to offer our knots and struggles up to our Lord, who makes all things new.

Go Saints Forever!

Mia Orgeron, Principal

Virtual (Remote) Learning Survey

Knowing that each family situation is unique, we are offering a virtual (remote) option for the first semester. While final details are still being worked out, this option will utilize our existing faculty, staff, curriculum and technology to provide those students with live and recorded lessons. Please complete the survey if you have ANY desire to participate or would like more information. This is NOT a binding agreement, only a tool to help plan our schedule.

Freshmen Fun Day & Orientation

At this time, Freshmen Fun Day & Orientation are being postponed to a later date. Due to the current circumstances we are revisiting guidelines and revamping our procedures. An email will be sent out to freshmen parents with the new date and will be shared in Halo Notes & social media. Thank you for your understanding as we strive to keep our students safe.

Please Contact Heather Ieyoub, Director of Admissions with any questions.

Service Project: Be the Hands and Feet of Christ Still Going Strong

Our service project Be the Hands and Feet of Christ-Show Love has been a great success. We have delivered treats and cards to the City Police, Sheriff’s Offices, State Troopers, Local Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Lifeshare Bloodcenters, VA Home in Jennings, Fire Departments, and to Ambulance Workers. We will continue to collect baked treats and cards tomorrow (7/23). Please drop your cards & baked treats off in the foyer of the school from 8 am -2 pm. Be sure to have your Saint snap a picture with their cards or treats and sign in at the table. Email Mrs. Broussard with any questions. The care and love shown to our community by St. Louis Catholic students is what sets us apart. Saints march on!

Athletics & Clubs are at the very heart of our vibrant student life. We know that our community is eager to get back to cheering on our Saints. We are as eager as you are. Currently everything on the calendar is scheduled as planned. We will keep you informed as information becomes available to us through the LHSAA. God Bless & Go Saints!
