Kingsley Connection
A weekly newsletter from the Kingsley Administrative Team
September 30, 2022
The POP fundraiser to help our efforts for a new playground has had great results. Last week, the Principal Advisory Council gave input on the color scheme for the new playground. As we near the end of fundraising on December 31st, there are many more opportunities to help reach our goal. Please see below for details on our restaurant nights and Kingsley's Trunk or Treat.
Enjoy your weekend,
Chuck Brewster & Eleni Gajewski

IMPORTANT INFO - Elementary Student Entry Time
Students and staff have done a nice job building routines at the start of the school year. Routine building is very important this year as many well-established practices were changed due to the pandemic. Now that schools have returned to normal operating procedures, the District is reestablishing many past practices.
To start the school year off, elementary students were permitted to enter the building early at
8:10 a.m. in order to provide more time to prepare to start the school day. Since we have been in school for approximately four weeks, well-established entry routines are now in place. As we shared earlier this year, entrance times would likely change once routines were established (see August newsletter).
Students will enter the building at 8:15 a.m. This aligns with our previous practice prior to the pandemic. Morning announcements will continue to take place at 8:20 a.m. Please note that while students will enter at 8:15 a.m., supervision will still start at 8:05 a.m. as usual. Bus route pick-up time will also remain the same. Allowing students adequate time to enter the building will be monitored closely throughout the year. In the event students are not able to be ready to go by 8:20 a.m., we will evaluate entry time once again.
District 58 Referendum
District 58 will place a proposal on the Nov. 8, 2022 ballot to issue $179 million in bonds to improve District 58’s facilities. To learn more about the District 58 referendum, please visit www.dg58.org/referendum.
This website contains helpful information, including the District’s Master Facility Plan, frequently asked questions, ballot language, voter information, tax impact, facility presentation and videos and much more. If you have any questions about the referendum not answered on the website, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Please know, as a school district, we can provide factual information about a referendum, but we cannot advocate for or against it.

Car Line and Dismissal Reminders
In order to continue to build independence with our Kindergarten - 2nd grade students for arrival and dismissal routines, we ask that parents remain outside of the fenced area near the primary playground while dropping off and picking up, as has been done in the past. We appreciate your cooperation with this.
Please call the office any time there will be a change in how your child will get home. Teachers are busy teaching and often unable to check their emails. By calling the office, we can be sure the message gets to your child.
As a reminder, we need adults to stay in the vehicle during arrival and dismissal. This allows our process to move swiftly. Students should enter and exit their vehicles from the passenger side only. If your child needs more time to get buckled, guardians may move to the first spot of the car line. This allows other vehicles behind you to proceed through the car line.
During arrival and dismissal, please do not park in the staff lots, as we need to ensure access and smooth traffic flow for our special transportation buses.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
