The Fort Report Weekly News

From the Principal's Desk
Greetings Fort Daniel Parents,
I hope you had an awesome Fall Break and were able to enjoy time with your amazing children! This week marked the start of our second quarter of school! I want to encourage families to check their child's grades on the parent portal. It is highly important that each student's parent(s) has a Parent Portal account. Please see the link below for Parent Portal information.
The link for Early Release conference sign-up closes today at 4:00pm. We do require our amazing teachers to meet with 100% of parents. Now more than ever, we are reminded of the vital partnership needed between school and home. Together we can give our students the very best start to their education!
As always in closing, I am continually reminded that our greatest resource in our schools and communities is each other. Together we create a school we all love. #bestschoolever #fdesstrong #millcreekstrong #futurehawks

FDES is wonderful when it comes to helping those in need. We will be having a friendly competition. The grade level bringing in the most items will earn extra recess time!
Requested Items: Personal Care Items, Toothbrushes and/or Toothpaste, Shampoo, Deodorant, Soap, Toilet Paper, Laundry Detergent, Pods, Hand Sanitizer, and Disinfectant Wipes
Donations will go to families impacted by the coronavirus!
Building Babies Brains
Did you know that only 48% of children in our community start school prepared to learn? Early brain development is a key factor in making sure children in Gwinnett County are ready to thrive in kindergarten and beyond!
Children exposed to positive early learning experiences—like reading, singing, and talking with caregivers—are less likely to have academic and behavioral problems in school. They are more likely to be strong readers by 3rd grade and graduate from high school.
This early learning initiative is vital to our community's success, Building Babies' Brains Gwinnett offers a toolkit with resources and opportunities to help enhance brain development in children under the age of 5 here: buildingbabiesbrains.com.
A BIG "Thank You" to the K12 Team at 12Stone Hamilton Mill for providing a delicious breakfast for our staff! We appreciate your kindness!
