A Note from Your PTSO President
PTSO Executive Board Nominations for the 2016/2017 School Year
Nominations are now open from March 1 - 15, 2016 for GCA PTSO Executive Board positions. A short description of duties are listed below. Full descriptions of all GCA PTSO Executive Board duties are on the GCA PTSO website, under the Bylaws link at http://www.gcaptso.org/home.html under Article IV.
President - The president shall preside over meetings of the organization and executive board, serve as the primary contact for the school representative, represent the organization at meetings outside the organization, serve as an ex officio member of all committees except the nominating committee, and coordinate the work of all the officers and committees so that the purpose of the organization is served.
Vice President - The vice president shall assist the president and carry out the president’s duties in his or her absence or inability to serve as well as other duties as may be assigned by the President or the Executive Board.
Secretary - The secretary shall keep all records of the organization, take and record minutes, handle correspondence and send notices of meetings to the membership. The secretary also keeps a copy of the minute’s book, bylaws, rules, membership list as well as other duties that may be assigned by the President or the Executive Board.
Vice Secretary - The vice secretary shall assist the secretary and carry out the secretary’s duties in his or her absence or inability to serve as well as other duties as may be assigned by the President or the Executive Board.
Treasurer - The treasurer shall receive all funds of the organization, keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures, and pay out funds in accordance with the approval of the executive board.
Vice Treasurer - The vice treasurer shall assist the treasurer and carry out the secretary’s duties in his or her absence or inability to serve as well as other duties as may be assigned by the President or the Executive Board
Nominations are open to everyone at GCA, but only members of GCA PTSO can vote or be placed on the ballot for Executive Board Positions. Ballots will be emailed to all current members of GCA PTSO. Submit your nomination using the following link : http://goo.gl/forms/zaqYvxmKdw

PTSO Leadership and Development Scholarship

Application dates for submission: 2/1/2016 - 3/7/2016
On 3/15/2016 your GCA PTSO Executive Board will select and notify 10
Applicants. The 10 Applicants will then submit a 500 word essay by 3/31/2016.
The GCA PTSO Executive Board will chose and announce the winner of the
scholarship on 4/06/2016.
Minimum Qualifications: The student must be a Senior with Georgia Cyber
Academy and meet all GCA Graduation Requirements. Scholarship must be
used toward the students furthering education program.
Note: No GCA PTSO Executive Board Members students can receive this
scholarship.

PTSO Weekly Juice Scholarship
Senior Editors. The scholarship will be given to the Senior Editor who displays
professional talents of Leadership, Interviewing and Writing skills.
Covenant CNA Scholarship
complements of the Covenant C.N.A. School in Atlanta!
Congratulations, Caroline!
Another scholarship will be awarded to one High School Senior at
the end of the school year. Details will be announced at a later date.
GCA PTSO will also be helping any GCA student, 17 years of age or
older, that would like to attend the Covenant CNA School of Atlanta,
by providing a significant discounted rate.
C.N.A. classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays, so students are
able to continue their GCA studies while being trained.

established by the PTSO in recognition of the dedication of Georgia Cyber
Academy students who choose to further their personal leadership and
development through higher education for future prosperity.

March 18th: Medieval Times The history of knights, horsemanship, chivalry and life in the 11th century are woven into live action-packed jousting, swordplay and medieval games of skill. The two hour performance includes a 30-minute educational presentation, 90 minute show, and lunch. The cost is $31.68 per person (which includes tax and gratuities), show starts at 11:00 AM on March 18, 2016. National Build Events at Home Depot and Lowe’s. Every month, both Lowe’s and Home Depot offer kids’ clinics for free.

March 24th: (Hosted by Region 3, but open to anyone) 9:30 am-3 pm. Discovering Entrepreneurship In-Person High School Seminar Workshop at GCA Offices. 1745 Phoenix Blvd. Suite 100 Atlanta, GA 30349.
In this program, students will examine the role of the entrepreneur and discuss how it's possible to create value for yourself by serving others well. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from successful entrepreneurs and network with innovative young leaders. Whether you currently have a business, are considering starting one, or just want to develop a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship, this event is for you. This event is for high school aged students and is offered at no charge, including lunch. Players will be given a wrist band that is good all day (you can leave and come back later if you want). Anyone not playing is free. Lunch is available but not required. Wrist bands are $5 per player and allow play on all the games!!! You must arrive noon - 2 pm and say you are with the homeschool group to get the discount.
