Wrestling Success!!!
The Cowgirls won their 6th District meet in a row with a 142 point performance, easily defeating Lewisville and Flower Mound. The team put all ten wrestlers in the finals and qualified all 10 for the UIL Regional meet.
The team was lead by two 4-time district champions. Seniors Lindsay McIntosh and Amanda DeVaul each pinned their opponent in the finals.
Senior Allie Baudhuin, a 3-time district champion also won by pin and was named the meets outstanding wrestler.
Sophomore Brooke Massivoil won her 2nd district title. Junior Khushi Khandelwal and sophomore Sricherry Nannapaneni each won their first individual title. Freshmen Ananya Sampathkumar and Devin Patton each won their first district title. Senior Gaby Reynoso and freshman Leilani Hernandez were each tournament runner-ups.
The Cowboys finished 2nd place to Flower Mound and ahead of Hebron, Marcus, and Lewisville. This is the squads 16th year of finishing in the top two in the district. The team avenged a loss to Hebron just 3 weeks ago in the Jesuit meet. The team qualified nearly everyone to the regional championships next weekend at Allen.
The boys were led by Senior Joe Montealegre who won his 3rd district title. Junior Taylor Lee was also a district Champion with a dominating 20 second pin in the finals. Seniors Carter Colclasure, Kyle Abramson, Frank Rusch, and Julian Garcia were all tournament runners-up. Junior Nico Yut and sophomore Jackson Briscoe were also finalists. Senior Thomas Edwards and Freshman Jo'el Hernandez were 3rd and sophomore Parker Odette and freshman Sohaib Mohommed were 4th. Freshman Siddarth Chintalapudi was 5th. The team was missing one competitor due to illness or would have qualified all 14 to advance.
Winterguard Success
This past weekend, we hosted a National Regional, with 40 other winter guards competing in the same class as our Varsity team. They were split into four preliminary rounds with only eighteen advancing to finals. CHS Varsity WON their prelims round and advanced to finals in second place. After the finals round, they hung on to second place and earned the second highest score in the country so far this season! This is a HUGE first for the CHS Winter Guard.
We never put the focus on scores, winning, or rankings, but in the moment, this was an amazing moment for our performers. They continue their season with a performance at the Dance Department Showcase on Wednesday the 21st, and then the WGI Austin Regional on March 3/4. If you have a Varsity Winter Guard member in one of your classes, give them a pat on the back for their incredible growth throughout the last year and a half. They have quickly become one of the best in the state!
