#TogetherWeFly Update for Armstrong High School 11/20
Mr. Norby's Update
Hello Armstrong Community,
It is hard to believe we are approaching late November and Thanksgiving. This update will serve you for the next 2 weeks and you should expect a new update on Friday, December 4th.
Congratulations to one of Armstrong’s great science teachers Kathy Kneeland. She has been recognized by the University of Minnesota Extension and Raport Center for her dedication to the Outdoor Investigations in the STEM Classroom (OISC). Kathy is a very talented and dedicated educator. Her work is endless and her love of science shows everyday with all our students!
Conferences are on Monday, November 23rd. Please review the tutorials on how to access your student's teachers found in the newsletter.
Please take some time and enjoy your family during the upcoming week of Thanksgiving. In this difficult time during COVID and now our latest 4 week pause, there are a lot of great things happening at Armstrong and our administrative team couldn’t be more proud and thankful of our students, staff, and community!

We also want to take a moment to remember that not everyone celebrates Thanksgiving in the same way. Native Americans see the holiday differently. To learn more read this article from PowWows.com.
Shout out to Kathy Kneeland!
"The OISC Team appreciates the opportunity to work with Robbinsdale Area Schools teachers, and we are impressed that you have such a dedicated science teacher in Kathy! We are inspired by the work our participants do, especially given the challenge of distance learning. Teachers deserve our thanks and appreciation every day, especially in the COVID-19 reality of this school year. The dedication Kathy is displaying during this pandemic is monumental!"
We are proud of Kathy, and all of our teachers and the hard work they have put into changing their curriculum to work in the distance learning model!

COVID-19 Reminders and Updates:
All families must use the self-screening tool before sending their students to school or school activities each day.
The threshold for sending students home due to illness this school year is lower than usual. Make a plan with family or friends regarding how your student will get home from school if they develop symptoms of illness during the school day. Students without vehicles at school will need to be picked up promptly and will remain in an illness isolation room until picked up.
Please check your contact information in Infinite Campus and make sure it is up to date. For any changes, contact 763-504-8808.
If a student or staff is identified by the Minnesota Department of Health as a close contact of someone with lab-confirmed COVID-19 while at an AHS activity, they will receive notification from the school and explanation of next steps.
If a student or staff is NOT identified as a close contact, but is in an AHS activity group or a classroom with someone who has lab-confirmed COVID-19, they will receive general notification that there was a case of COVID-19 reported in their activity group or classroom.
