Student Success Act
Speak Up 4 Student Success: HB 3427 - Student Success Act
The Oregon Legislature passed and the Governor signed the $2 billion Student Success Act (HB 3427) in Spring 2019. This is an historic and much needed investment in K-12 schools. The Beaverton School District could be able to access an estimated $34 million per year through a state application process.
School districts are required to apply for funds, and must engage their community in a needs assessment process prior to the application for funds. We will host a series of Community Conversations - Speak Up 4 Student Success in several locations throughout the BSD. Schools will also be engaging their communities in these conversations during September and October.
Please join us to talk about what student success looks like in the Beaverton School District? What is going well in Beaverton schools? What areas/services/programs could we improve?
Your voice matters! We welcome your perspective and opinion.
Speak Up 4 Student Success Community Conversations offered in English & Spanish:
· Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Southridge High School, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
· Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Cedar Park Middle School, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
· Monday, October 7, 2019 at Stoller Middle School, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
· Monday, October 21, 2019 at Aloha High School, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. (Budget Listening & Learning Session) For more information, and to complete a BSD Needs Survey, please visit the Student Success Act webpage.

*Important - See article below about After School Activity Bus.
After School Activity Bus
Stoller Middle School has an activity bus available on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school for current bus riders. There is no activity bus service for students living in the Walk Zone.
Middle and high school after school activities buses will feature “transit style” bus routes for students. Students will be assigned stops within ½ mile of their homes. All stops will allow students to utilize sidewalks and not have to cross busy streets. The majority of stops will be located near major housing areas (apartments, community centers or neighborhood elementary schools). The advantage to having assigned stops is the ability for parents to access the My Stop App to track their child’s bus.
After School Activity Bus Form
Please note that this bus service will not start up until October 22nd. You will need to make other transportation arrangements until October 22nd.
Fall Play Auditions
Auditions for the fall play, Amelia and The Stupid Book will be held after school Monday, September 23rd and Tuesday, September 24th. Copies of the audition scenes and the auditions sign-up sheet are outside Ms. Tuck's drama room, U1. Check out Stollerdrama.com for more information.

Chromebook Insurance
Chromebooks have been distributed to students.
The Beaverton School District is fortunate to be able to provide Chromebooks to all secondary students. At the beginning of each school year, each student is automatically enrolled in the District's Chromebook Damage / Loss Program and charged a $20 fee. Students who are eligible for free and reduced meals will have the fee waived and removed from their account. In order to be covered by the Chromebook Damage / Loss Program, the $20 fee must have been paid or waived.
**On October 18, 2019, any Chromebook Damage / Loss fees that haven't been paid will be removed from student accounts. Students who have checked out a Chromebook but have not paid the Damage / Loss fee or have had the fee waived will not be covered by the program. Students not covered by the program will be fully responsible for any damage or loss of their assigned Chromebook.
For more information about the BSD Chromebook program, please visit the Chromebook Resources page on our District website.
Canvas for Parents
Did you know...Beaverton School District parents can create their own Canvas Parent Observer Accounts.
The Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) is used by many middle and high school teachers as an extension to in-class instruction. Teachers using Canvas can post assignments, give feedback, and communicate with students.
Parents or guardians do not need a Canvas account to monitor student progress, you can continue to use ParentVUE; however, you can create a Canvas account to view more detailed assignment information, view feedback and communicate with the teacher.
Think of Canvas as a virtual backpack, giving you a look at the day-to-day assignments. ParentVUE will still be the source for attendance and permanent record grades.
Visit the BSD Canvas webpage to learn more about how to create your own Canvas account, as well as answers to frequently asked questions.
