Cross Country Update
Genoa XC traveled to Tiffin on Saturday for the second largest meet in the country. The Tiffin Carnival draws over 300 schools and 20,000 visitors.
HS Boys:
The varsity boys team took 23/48 in the DII A race, with a total of fifteen all time PRs. Top seven: Derek Rightnowar (17:39), Tyson Lesher (17:49), Darin Muir (17:58), Conner LaGrange (18:25), Ross Schlatter (18:29), London Stuller (18:55), and freshman Nathan Cooper (19:23).
PRs by: Loomis (-48), Stillwagon (-55), Evans (-14), Cooper (-41), Wolff (-1:16), Stuller (-3), Hudson (-35), Rightnowar (-13), LaGrange (-3), Schlatter (-14), Mathews (-13), Muir (-41), Weaver (-28), Matheny (-16), and Reno (-11). Every freshman boy ran a PR.
Congratulations to Nolan Weaver, Randy Matheny, and Nathan Cooper, who all dropped into the 19s for the first time. Rightnowar’s run drops him from number 28 on the all time Top 50 list to number 24, less than a second from Tim Holcombe’s 1985 run. Darin Muir’s run, only his fifth 5k, and already in the 17s--puts him at number 31 on the all time Top 50 list, right between 1986 runs from Brett Hilbert and Andrew Littlefield. Muir is only the thirty-first Genoa cross country runner to break 18 minutes since the program began in 1966. Ross Schlatter's PR moves him to number 43 on the Top 50 list, just four seconds away from his teammate Conner LaGrange.
HS Girls:
The varsity girls placed 11/49 in the DIII A race, with a total of three all time PRs. Top seven: Sophie Richards (21:29), Sara Partin (21:55), Marainna Heninger (21:58), Jordyn Bronowski (22:37), Keerstin Pelow (22:49), Sami Richards (23:05), and Katelyn Bachmayer (23:59).
PRs by: Bachmayer (-28), Szych (-44), and Pelow (-2). Congratulations to Bachmayer, who becomes only the 37th girl to break 24 minutes, adding her name to the Top 50 list.
